new lil playlist series, “fromthe7ara2u”, first edition link in bio

for this first one, I really only wanted to cover some songs that I’ve been listening to that cannot be found on DSPs, whether they be throwaways, songs w/ samples that couldn’t get cleared, or a random mashup, there’s quite simply too much good music that doesn’t make its way to where we do the majority of our consumption

@SceneNoise x @XpMusicFutures: #XPArtistSpotlight Moayad - A Saudi Poet and Comedian Walks Into 16 Bars

Following the release of his debut album ‘Batn Al Sha’er’, we talked to Netflix comedian turned Khaleeji Rap star Moayad Alnefaie who revealed his poetic past and the power of performative art.

Being the ultimate multi-hyphenate he is, Moayad who originally studied medicine, became fascinated by the musicality of Arabic poetry at the early age of 15, forgoed his profession for the sake of becoming a comedian before eventually turning to rap music. Though Moayad hasn't always been dreaming of becoming a rapper, he naturally gravitated towards entertaining people; at the beginning it was through his comedy skits, but now it is his distinctive music style.
