#bluewatchmonday with a 36mm 18 karat yellow gold and steel Rolex Datejust Ref. 16013, accompanied by its complete box and papers and originally retailed through AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service) in May of 1985. Its punched guarantee paper bears country code 902, corresponding to U.S. Military AAFES Germany. During the late Cold War, Rolex watches retailed through AAFES in Germany were available exclusively to U.S. service members stationed overseas, a restriction intended to prevent interference with Rolex’s established U.S. authorized retailer network.

The Datejust features a brushed steel case with gold fluted bezel, and is mounted on its original 62523H-18 bracelet, which is stamped with a J2 clasp code, corresponding to production in February 1985. The watch is fitted with a blue sunburst stick hour marker dial, whose tritium lume plots and hands have begun to develop a lovely light cream colored patina with age.

Overall, the watch remains in excellent vintage condition, and while its blue sunburst dial is truly spectacular, the fact that it was retailed during the height of the Cold War to a U.S. service member overseas is arguably much cooler than the dial !

$#tudortuesday with an awesome 34mm stainless steel Tudor Prince Oyster Date Ref. 7996/0, circa 1968 production. The Tudor features a stunning horizontally brushed silver dial with applied polished index hour markers, tritium-coated hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock with a coveted roulette date wheel. The tritium lume plots and hour markers have acquired a rich custard patina with age, which beautifully accents the silver dial. Furthermore, the brushed silver dial, in conjunction with the roulette date wheel, evokes similar aesthetics to the vintage Rolex Milgauss reference 1019, but at a fraction of the price. The Prince Oyster Date retains a super thick case and is mounted on its original Rolex signed Oyster bracelet containing full links and little to no stretch. A lovely vintage Submariner Gilt Dial Ref. 5513, circa 1966, which is accompanied by its original box and papers.

The Submariner is mounted on a period correct 7206 bracelet, which is affixed to the case via “80” stamped end links. The original MK 2 “Long 5” bezel insert has aged beautifully and acquired a dark navy blue hue, while the Sub’s tritium lume has acquired an even pumpkin colored patina. The gilt dial retains a strong, mirror-like gloss, and has developed tropical “stardust” specks on its lacquer.

Overall the 5513 is in very good vintage condition and is an honest example of a late gilt / gloss dial 5513, which remains as found, having been purchased from the original owner’s wife, with the box and papers being an added bonus !

$An exceptionally well preserved late production 36mm stainless steel and 18 karat white gold Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust Ref. 17014A. The Oysterquartz is a P755,XXX serial, circa 2000 production. The Datejust features a brushed steel case, which is accented by a fixed white gold fluted bezel, and mounted on its original 17010 integrated brushed steel Jubilee bracelet, which is stamped with a DE4 clasp code corresponding to a production date of April 2000. The Rolex features a black dial with applied polished white gold stick hour markers, polished white gold luminous hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock. The movement in the 17014A is the Rolex Caliber 5035, which is running flawlessly. A unique aspect of late production Oysterquartz Datejust Models such as the 17014 above, is that a keen eye will notice an “A” at the end of their reference number. This is due to Rolex switching case and bracelet manufacturers to in-house production in the early 1990s for all three Oysterquartz Datejust models, as part of their broader vertical integration initiative. As a result, the Oysterquartz Datejust models each received updated reference numbers marked by the addition of the letter ‘A,’ denoting the new in-house cases. These updated references were introduced in the mid-1990s and remained in production until the Oysterquartz Datejust line was discontinued in early 2001, representing a very small fraction of overall production. Overall, the 17014 remains in near mint condition, with its case and bracelet appearing to remain unpolished, retaining crisp factory-brushed links and sharp well defined chamfers, while the case still bears remnants of its original caseback sticker. - DM for Pricing / More Info !$

An understated and opluent 29mm by 33mm solid 18 karat yellow and white gold “Tridor” Rolex Cellini First Ref. 4150/8 BIC, which is fresh from factory service. The Cellini is a 6,936,xxx serial, circa 1980 production, and is under factory service warranty until late March of 2027.

The Cellini features a solid white gold case, which is accented by a yellow gold coined bezel with integrated hour indices. The First is mounted on an unworn OEM dark blue alligator strap, which is secured by its original 18 karat yellow gold tang buckle. The Cellini features a silver sunburst dial with applied polished gold Roman numeral hour markers and polished gold hands.

Overall, the Cellini First remains in near mint condition, with crisp hallmarks and engravings on its caseback. The watch itself has been well preserved, showing minimal signs of previous wear, and has not seen any wrist time since returning from factory service, with its warranty lasting until March of 2027.

About the Reference 4150:
While the original Cellini King Midas and Queen Midas models from the 1970s are instantly recognizable, few are aware that these models led to two subsequent Midas model lines, which were distinguishable by their respective case shapes, and both produced until around 2000. The first of these was called the Cellini “Midas First”, which included many of the same asymmetrical and rectangular cases from the original Midas series, but were mounted on straps as opposed to bracelets. The final model line in the Midas lineage was simply called the Cellini “First” and were mounted on both bracelets and straps, with the reference 4150 being a strap variant. The defining feature shared by all Cellini First watches is their octagonal case, a clear nod to the legendary Gérald Genta, who designed the original Midas models in the 1970s along with the Oyster-Quartz models as well.
