Okay so I wrote a play.

I got to put it on with old friends and new ones. I had family and friends in the audience that hadn’t seen me perform in years and now it’s all done.

We closed last week, which is a shame because I could do this show forever. No matter how draining it was, I always left each show buzzing with so much fervor and joy.

Proud of myself, proud of all of these wonderful artists, and I’m so happy to do be doing what I love even when it feels inane and embarrassing. Don’t think I’m ever gonna stop lol.

Anyway…don’t be a stranger…😏

When @peyton_flemingo asked me to read one of the first versions of this show I was honored and floored to be trusted with such a special piece. When she asked me to direct I almost cried, I think I might have even gone home that day and actually shed tears. I have been so blessed during this entire process and here I am mourning its conclusion.

I am so grateful to have worked we this incredible cast. What a bond, what a team, what a family. The proof that my amazing partner @its.kirbeaux and I make the best team means this will not be the last time we find ourself basking in this feeling.

What an absolute honor to get to be a part of an original play written by my bestie @peyton_flemingo. IN HOLLYWOOD!! The entire team (@venus_in_pursuit, @its.kirbeaux, @salem_smallman, @ninaaaa_simone / @simonebluellc) worked SO hard to make this play come to life—and in such a high quality way!!! To get to play 5 different characters in one play was truly the most fun thing. I’m so proud of the work we all did. One of the best parts of life is the people we meet—say hi to a stranger today!

Summertime Madness in ‘Comedy of Errors’

Independent Shakespeare Company’s outdoor staging of The Comedy of Errors delivers “an oasis of vibrancy, mischief” as summer winds down, writes reviewer Gabrielle Johnsen. 🎭

Director Melissa Chalsma sets the play on the feast day of St. Phanourios — patron saint of lost things — as two sets of long-separated twins collide in a series of increasingly wild mistaken-identity mishaps. A live band led by the glamorous Chanteuse (Kalean Ung) fills the breaks with original songs, and one mid-show moment, when the stage lights drop and fairy lights glow from the trees, draws audible gasps.

Running through September 6 at Outdoors at the Dell, top of the Old Zoo in Griffith Park. Performances Wednesday through Sunday at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but reservations are encouraged.
