@beersandcameras_la 2/19 was really fun. I have never been to a photo meet up before. Really great to nerd out over everyone’s cameras.

Finally got to get back in the saddle and race this beast, it has been way too long. Cannot even remember the last time I drove this thing proper.

Of course still running the ol’ reliable Honda CR125, one of two in the field of twelve, put us down on power to most of the competition, let alone having to compete against everyone that has done this track all year with most being a part of the Musgrave team; and Billy Musgrave not to mention it. So this weekend was a learning experience for me, get used to the course and try all sorts of different setups. The amount of grip was nothing I could have prepped for, with almost 3G of lateral acceleration on most of the corners, extremely physically demanding throughout the whole weekend.

After two days of practice we qualified 10th, being 2.5s off pole position… it might be time to get into that higher horsepower motor, or as someone said a few times this weekend, just go faster. Had a slight engine issue in the heat race causing some bogging, dropping to 12th but got a good start in the final and finished 10th, so I will take a net zero for the fist race in just over 2 years.

This weekend could not have gone without having an amazing crew. I had Ivan and Kelsey with me for the two major practice days. Both were troopers and did the full race day with me, from 6am on Sunday morning to the end of the day. They both absolutely nailed the tire pressures, helped me understand the data and what I was feeling on the course, and just give it their all just for going out there and having fun. Could not have asked for more so a big thanks to them. Also a big shoutout to the rest of the HPD crew for coming out and supporting me for this race, they have been very supportive of this and I am glad they got to see what it was all about. Another big thanks to @willismotorsports75 for letting me use his Tacoma to tow the trailer and get us going at the track.

Spent the last week trying to put together a “Top 10 moments of 2021” but I found way too many good ones - thanks to all my friends and family (old and new and those not pictured) - could not have done this without you 💜

Finally graduated and ready to get out there. Although we didn’t officially walk, we made sure we had our own fun. Glad to be done and finished strong! And yes, my eyes are open I swear!
