Eleven months ago, I received my call-up letter.
Imagine my shock when I saw that I was posted to Kebbi! The only options to get there was either to go by road (an almost 24 hour journey) or to fly down to camp on Wednesday (because that's the only day airlines fly to Kebbi). Camp was to start on Tuesday and I did not want to go a day late, so I created a third option for myself.
I took a flight to Sokoto on Monday and lodged at my aunt's place, then she put me on a bus to Kebbi the next day.
I may have my reservations against the Scheme but at least I got some exposure out of it and I realised the North isn't all what media paints it to be. They have smooth roads (you wouldn't see a pothole on a tarred road), there's no traffic whatsoever (you should have seen me screaming this on the phone to everyone who called me after I landed in Sokoto) and they have constant electricity!
The past eleven months have been a wonderful ride to be honest, I had my first ever working experience in my life, I met new people, made new connections and all of that.
God has been so faithful this far, I cant wait to see what the future holds.✨
