Sunday, August 16th, Growing A.R.C. invites you to a special Discovery Day PLAYDATE in our garden at Espace Roseraie in Parc Jean Drapeau. Try a few different material practices as we create, learn, and connect. We’ll also gather for the sharing Thoughts on Mending and a Manifesto for Change, by @shiftconcordia Research and Advocacy fellow, Rebeca Esquivel. This will be a great introduction for community members and organizers interested in learning more about our mission and the joys and challenges of building community-led initiatives rooted in sustainability, creativity, and care. Our friends Akajou Library will set up their lending library and FoodNTing will fill our bellies. See you there :)

How was the show yesterday?
We had such a blast at our very first live event. Sunday Service was such a great time. And it’s 100% because of the incredible people in the room. Thank you to those who came and supported, shared their art on stage and on the canvas.

Y’all healed a little something in both of us. It would have been such a gift to have a space like this a decade ago. And we’re excited for the community of neurospicy, Queer, weirdos that we’re building as we laugh at our pain and heal together.

Till next time, Montreal. Ottawa we’re coming to you next! See you tonight.

Come by the project room at Centre for Art Tapes next Thursday! I'm teaching an animation class– talking walk cycles, rotoscoping, and frame by frame sequences. Come learn about the animation principles and techniques I used to produce the animations in 'Cousins'. See you at 6~

Avery Morris’ immersive animation installation brings you into the after hours at Cousin's. Gigi circles the room, feeling unobserved, cleaning a world made of paintings, Nintendo DSi gifs, junkmail, and restored restaurant signage. Thank you Donnini's and Cousin's for the signs.

Join us at 6pm on March 3rd at the Centre for Art Tapes for the opening.

Cousin's is an extension of Avery Morris' AV storytelling practice. Their intermedia animations have been developed using the DSi as a production tool to create gestural drawings rotoscoped from choreographed scenes. In layering gifs with tactile work and foley recordings, they explore remembering, forgetting and movement in the form of an episodic looping story.
