$After making my valentines blouse out of my wedding dress silk, I had a lot of questions about my wedding dress! The process of making my dress was what got me into sewing and designing my own wardrobe and I owe that to a very special local sewist. . The last pictures show my inspiration for the open back two piece ensemble and my love for appliqué work. I knew I wanted colour on my dress but nothing bright or trendy. I decided on pale blue, dove grey and warm ivory and asked @mmtuca to make me the appliqué of my dreams! Swipe to pictures 6 and 7 for close up details of her work. It is breathtaking beadwork! Picture 5 is my rough drawing for the details I wanted such as the layered tulip style skirt, slight high-low texture with the polka dot tulle and placement for appliqué. I ended up not putting any appliqué on the skirt but decided to cluster them closer together on the top. I also got rid of the bow detail for the closure of the top, it was too heavy looking for such a delicate tulle and lace. . For anyone looking into a custom dress I would highly recommend finding a humble designer who has a collaborative work ethic and someone who listens. I had the BEST experience, and never once felt foolish or silly for offering design ideas or wanting something to suit my body type or preferences which is almost unheard of in the wedding industry. I got exactly what I wanted and for a fraction of the price, despite everyone getting paid the hourly rate they charge. Highly recommend working with small or local designers, they have so much to offer. 😇#handmadeweddingdress #appliqué #embroidereddress #memadewardrobe #collaborationovercompetition #handmadewardrobe$
