A fun couple of days in Moab, Utah. Biking, exploring sweet canyon creeks & alpine lakes to explore & dip into. What a beautiful world! ☀️ In these paintings I sought to simplify! Focusing every brushstroke to express volume & perspective, temperature change of plane change, atmosphere, & light dynamics. I tend to play messily, so this exercise has been a good way to dial in & recenter. Like tuning my brain, eyes, hands, & palette together. Here are a couple of 11x14 oils. I made a couple more weirdos not shown, some 5x7's, & 12x18 watercolor & gouache paintings. A surprise closing to the week with a booth at Moab's Ag & Arts market allowed fellow explorers to take paintings home with them. How awesome.

October 14th - Story Slam at the MARC (@moabarts 111 E 100 N in Moab). The Storied Self, in collaboration with the Grand County Public Library, invites you to step up to the mic for stories on the theme of "Collective Effervescence: Feelings of Unity and Harmony Spurred by Shared Experiences." Collective effervescence is that special feeling and synergy when humans share experiences. You may have felt it watching a sporting event, dancing to live music, navigating a rapid with a group on a river raft trip, or in any joyful crowd. Come cheer folks on, and/or put your name in the hat for a chance to tell your true, 5-7 minute story of your experience with Collective Effervescence. Snacks and sips and 6:30pm, stories at 7pm. And thanks to @moabsunnews for the adorable mention! Our partnership with Cosmo means everything to us! @moab_library is the best!
