@sho_runna @mobrulebeats present Broken Drums Vol 1. This beat tape is a collection of unconventional drum loops and unorthodox grooves that break away from what’s familiar to create a different feel. Each vocal sample represents our nihilistic perspective, and captures our shared sense of detachment, disillusionment, and indifference toward the world around us.

It’s been a year exactly since you passed. It still hurts. You’d be so proud of all I’ve accomplished since you passed. What I’d do to smoke a Paul Mall with you. What I’d do to show you music I’ve created. What I’d do to hug you.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. I want to take this moment and month to acknowledge someone I lost to suicide this year. My dear friend Carrie. I have had other friends who have had friends lost to suicide this year. Check in on your friends. That smile might be misleading they could be suffering inside. As a person myself who has dealt with suicidal thoughts community is everything to someone who’s about to jump off the ledge. Reach out if you’re in darkness you’re not alone. Someone will help you reach the light.

This is my father David Knudtson. My family has recently in the past 6ish months found out he has FTD. Frontotemporal dementia. This is the same disease Bruce Willis has if you aren’t familiar. It’s a form of dementia that not only eventually kills you but robs you of your memory and leaves you bed ridden in the end. So to say this has been extremely hard on me and my family is an understatement. There is no cure for this. I am already in the process of grieving. The average life span for this disease is 8 years he’s likely been living with this for 3 years according to his doctor. The clock is ticking and I’m cherishing every moment I have left.

It’s hard grieving a man that has given so much to so many people including the working poor, people fresh out of prison ,addicts ,the homeless all while getting hell from city government and having legal disputes with city officials and winning against them in court even them striking from the record that he won. I will forever respect my father for resisting against the city in the name of helping others because that’s who he is and believed what was right to do.

A man that has loved my mother been married and been faithful since the early 1980s a rare thing in society. A man that provided and kept food in hers and mines belly thru hard work and entrepreneurial spirit that he would equate to tithing and gods blessing but I would equate to his own hard work and genius and utilizing the internet before most people did.

A man of faith not in a Christian Nationalist way like is so common in modern America but a man of faith that took Christ’s words and applied them with logic and compassion. Helping those who were in need accepting outcasts and drug addicts and criminals and helping them get back on their feet. Even something as simple as giving a homeless guy cigarettes and a meal to eat at McDonalds. This is who my dad is.

A man that always heard me growing up a man I don’t always agree with but he always welcomed open discussion and damn near fostered certain friends of mine growing up. I love my father and know he loves me. He taught me how to be a man. He is loved by many. I cherish the moments I have left.
