It seems that happiness has become less a state of mind than an everyday task on social media. It demands continuous work, promises (self)improvement, and often gets intertwined with contradictions, exhaustion, or irony.

As a warm-up to their end of year exhibition in Stuttgart, the artists ended up adding another task on their list: an additional exhibition in Bucharest, framed as a „happy break“. Yet the break has transformed itself into work.
Rather than interrupting artistic production, the show marks a temporary shift in its conditions and inspiration.
Practices of care and rest, moments of withdrawal and leisure, wandering through an unfamiliar city, all become part of the work.

How hard are you working for your own happiness?
