I was tasked with looking at the predominant colours as part of the @signalfilmmedia interiors alongside the architectural works with @baumanlyons

The building has the most incredible heritage frontage and retains a great amount of character internally. I was conscious that I didn’t want the colours to fall into a heritage palette but also didn’t want to turn away from it.

I introduced @yes.colours neon yellow, which also then could act as a way to direct people through the building from the front “head for the yellow…” for the lifts, toilets, stairs etc

I then picked up the neon in the office pod to connect the spaces and with furniture that we designed and produced in @dukemakes as part of the scheme.

@yes.colours is a great paint company - their paints can be used across materiality and it looks so good on both walls and furniture 👌

It’s a spark that shows the energy of @signalfilmmedia in and a part of its heritage home.

Neon yellow is clearly bold - it took a bit of convincing but it also is such a complimentary colour in a wild amount of correlations and I think it’s an interesting addition to a traditional palette.

📸 Countless landmarks, venues, and cultural gems captured. All to showcase Manchester in its best light for CultureHosts ✨

CultureHosts takes the hassle out of listing cultural experiences by centralising uploads, automating distribution, and keeping listings consistent wherever they appear.
👉 List once, and your event or experience appears across trusted local platforms.

From iconic streets and busy trams to independent venues and hidden corners, it’s been a joy to photograph the rhythm of the city — its culture, history, and daily life — and help power a platform that connects it all.

Thank you @matbend @moderndesigners for the opportunity! 🙌

Lamy Safari pen

Vorsprung Durch Technik. If you grew up in the 80s you’ll know this phrase by heart but not actually know what it means. Originally an Audi strapline (I think it was on the wall at their factory), there’s no direct English translation, but I like to think of it as good design always comes through function.

The VW Golf did it and so did the Lamy Safari Pen. It just looks and feels right. Designed by Mario Bellini in 1980 it comes in fountain, rollerball, ballpoint and mechanical pencil versions and it’s constructed using high-end PVD coating and galvanisation. I don’t know what this means but it must be good as they throw in a guarantee every time you buy one. The upside to these pens is that they come in very bright colours (no one will dare steal my yellow one). The downside? Don’t tell your wife you’ve started spending lunchtimes down at the Pen Shop. Mine laughed for a week.

Victorinox Classic SD Swiss Army Knife

My mini Victorinox has been swinging on my keyring for 20+ years, saving the day on more than one occasion: solving camping emergencies (did you pack a bottle opener?), teenage crises (can’t get into your boxfresh Nikes? Stand back, kids!), and impressing / terrifying clients (here, let me cut that open for you…). Looks good, been around for 125 years, starts at £19 and, in my case at least, lasts for decades.
