„Father always told me: If you can’t sleep, just think about nothing. What a challenge he gave me.“

Starting the final BA year is maybe a good moment to share a snip of my highschool grad collection 2023?
Thank you @modeschule_hetzendorf for the early food; Impulse, Offenheit & inspirierende Begegnungen <3

What if the life you planned for your child is not the life they are meant to live?

For a long time, we thought Demid ( my son ) would study architecture. Then one day he came to me and said:

“I want to become a fashion designer.”

I was surprised. Fashion is beautiful, but also competitive and unpredictable. As a mother, my first instinct was to protect him and guide him towards something safer.

But he already knew where he wanted to study. He had researched Modeschule Hetzendorf, understood what was required and had chosen this path for himself.

And I thought: who am I to stop my son from following the dream that makes his eyes light up?

At the end of the academic year, I attended the school’s fashion show. Demid participated as a model, wearing the work of the graduating students.

Watching him walk the runway, so confident and grown-up, filled my heart with love and pride.

The students’ collections were bold, intelligent and technically complex. I saw how seriously the school approaches fashion and realised that Demid had chosen not just something beautiful, but a real profession built on discipline, craftsmanship and courage.

Hetzendorf is part of Vienna’s remarkable fashion environment, with Die Angewandte representing one possible next step. Its fashion department has been shaped by designers such as Helmut Lang, Karl Lagerfeld, Jil Sander, Vivienne Westwood and Raf Simons. Vivienne Westwood also met Andreas Kronthaler there when he was a student.

Perhaps Demid recognised his path before I did.

I do not know where it will lead him. Maybe to Die Angewandte, his own collections or somewhere we cannot yet imagine.

But I know one thing: I love him, I believe in him, and I am proud that he was brave enough to choose his own dream.

Dream big. And let your children dream even bigger. 🤍
