Alta cucina, ma anche piatti fusion e portate caserecce in versione gourmet: sono questi i menu dei ristoranti italiani d’eccellenza nel mondo, che portano i sapori (ma anche lo stile) del Belpaese ai quattro angoli del pianeta.

I almost don’t want to share this because it feels like one of those places you want to keep to yourself—but it’s too good not to talk about.

From the moment you walk in, it’s moody, intimate, and a little bit tucked away from the usual busy Sydney dining scene. Not overly flashy, not trying too hard—just warm lighting, a cosy atmosphere, and that quiet kind of confidence that usually means the food is going to speak for itself.

You can actually watch the magic happen, with the woodfired pizza oven sitting right in the heart of the restaurant. There’s something about seeing your food made in front of you that instantly makes the experience feel more special. The pizzas come out with that perfect crisp base, slightly charred edges, and that fresh, authentic flavour you just can’t fake.

And then there’s the pasta… all handmade, and you can taste the difference. It’s rich, comforting, and done properly. Knowing it’s coming from a Michelin-trained chef makes sense the second you take a bite.

It’s the kind of place you go to slow down, have a proper conversation, and just enjoy really good food in a space that feels a bit special without being over the top. Perfect for a date night or even just a catch-up where you want somewhere that feels a little more elevated but still relaxed.

Honestly, it feels like one of Sydney’s best hidden gems—and one you’ll probably want to come back to the second you leave.

Before the days of the Sydney metro, and wave of Sydney favourites setting up shop in the north-west corridor, including Gelato Messina, Mary’s and El Jannah, there was @modomiosydney. Opening in 2018, Naples-born head chef Stefano Bozza brings heavyweight credentials and sleek Italian dining to Castle Hill. Hit the link in our bio or visit the Good Food app for the full review.

Dinner date w my dad at Modo Mio… best truffle pasta in Sydney PERIOD. Oh my god. I can’t explain how amazing this was. The truffle was generous, pungent and extravagant. Despite it being a buttercream sauce, it was SUPER light and non-burdensome (for reference, I finished the ENTIRE plate - first time I’ve ever finished a pasta dish by myself, which is a testament to how great this pasta was). I would return weekly for this pasta truly.

Only complaint is the starter of the bread and olive oil - the bread was very very stale and hard, not enjoyable at all, and the taste was bland and just disappointing. However, the mains were fantastic and made up for it, but would not order entrees again

Also a very beautiful interior! Great restaurant for any occasion

Did you know The Hills is home to a chic Italian restaurant with a Michelin-trained chef?

Head to Castle Hill’s Modo Mio for handmade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, a classy dining room – and one seriously talented chef.

Find out more (including what to order – that's you, tortellini in brodo) via the link in bio
