International design practice @hassell_studio has completed a two-floor redesign for a private equity firm at Devonshire House, Mayfair, a landmark 1920s building and one of the most characterful and architecturally complex in London’s West End. Spanning over 3,000sqm across two levels of the Grade-II listed building, the phased project was guided by the design concept ‘Living Legacy’, and delivers a research-led, contemporary workplace shaped by the company’s history and culture, alongside the unique identity of the heritage property.

Fragrances I wore this week & what they smell like:

Monday - Le Labo Gaiac 10 - woody musky scent that dries down super fluffy and clean but keeps some of the smokiness of the gaiac

Tuesday - Carolina Herrera Cedar Chic - a super creamy yet powdery woody musk, effortless and chic like a classic white shirt

Wednesday - Amouage Existence - clean soapy aldehydes & florals contrasted with strong potent frankincense

Thursday - Penhaligon’s Changing Constance - boozy caramel vanilla, just the perfect amount of smoky & spicy, very comforting

Friday - Guerlain Vanille Planifolia x Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac x Kheir 7 After Dark - a triple threat vanilla combo, super luxurious, sexy & dark

Saturday - Nishane Meant to be seen - musky & clean, powdery yet with a sensual quality to it - a room filler too

In a world of endless beauty launches, I still think the most useful review is an empty bottle.

Another round of empties from someone who gets sent inordinate amounts of beauty products every year. Which means if I’ve managed to finish something, it’s either done something right or I’m just too stubborn to waste £40.

This month’s collection includes some rather expensive skincare that I’m going to have to repurchase, haircare that the whole family has been using, and a few products that would have scored higher if someone had given the packaging a bit more consideration.

There are also some familiar faces in here. @curel_japanese_skincare and @decreeskincare and @officialmedik8 are products I’ve talked about repeatedly, and for very good reason. They are foookin brilliant.

As always, some were sent in PR, others were bought by me, and a few started life as PR before I went on to spend my own money on them. After nearly seven years reviewing beauty products, I’m fairly confident about what I like, particularly when it comes to sensitive, rosacea-prone skin.

Whilst there are some absolute crackers in this batch, I’ve knocked points off for everything from irritating dispensers to unnecessarily fiddly application. Because, well, balance.
