July 2026 Black joy. Black excellence. Black unity. Manchester showed up! What a day celebrating @blackunitybikeride alongside the incredible @beepedalready an inspiring all-female organisation changing lives by helping more women gain the confidence, skills and freedom to ride. The streets were alive with energy and carnival vibes as cycling groups from across the UK rolled out together to celebrate our community, increase representation, remind the world that cycling belongs to everyone but most of all, have fun!! It was amazing to share the road with groups @wccc_uk @blackcyclistsnetwork @twr_cic . It's always a pleasure to see old friends @rhianesworld and meet new With London's Ride coming up (1st August 2026) we have another chance to ride together for health, visibility, friendship, culture and showing the next generation what's possible. Every pedal stroke breaks down barriers and builds stronger, healthier communities. A massive thank you to everyone who organised, volunteered and rode. The atmosphere was electric, the conversations were inspiring and the smiles said it all. Here's to riding together, lifting each other up and making sure every road is open to everyone. Keep pedalling. Keep connecting. Keep showing up. 🖤🚴🏾 #BlackUnityBikeRide #BeePedalReady #BlackCyclists #BlackTriTribe

On The Wing Carole and I were out walking in our local park when we spotted this Six Spot Burnet Moth. It was a hot afternoon and it simply wouldn’t settle. I took a few shots from my camera at high speed and we wandered on. I was absolutely chuffed to see on the camera when we got home. 💚 There are lots of day flying moths on the wing right now, I’m hoping we’ll see some on our @moja.collective walk on July 25th 🤩 #naturephotography #nature #creativecommunity

Very delayed sharing all the wonderful conversations, gatherings, imaginations and agitations I’ve been part of over the past couple of weeks. 🤦🏻‍♀️ A few Saturday’s back, The London National Park City Ranger fam teamed up with The Mix, Touch Grass, our own Shukura’s Moja Collective and Kew Gardens to explore, celebrate and trouble/anxiety/possibility-shoot everything around POC-led outdoor collectives. We collectively held space the importance of representation, belonging, and connection to nature sharing research and real stories from groups already leading this work and those inspired to grow. 🌿 Photos by the one and only Michael Shilling @LondonIn360 @londonnationalparkcity @kewgardens @themix.global @moja.collective

Still feeling the nourishing impact on my mind and body from Level Up London’s Summer Social in partnership with @kentdownsnl @northdownswaynt and special guest @moja.collective on Saturday! Members of our community took the Surrey Hills. And we were led by Downs Way Walk Lead and EDI Lead at Protected Landscapes Partnerships @saskialuqmani. Saskia led us on a 2 hour walk through the beautiful Surrey Hills. Shared with us the history of North Downs Way and Landscapes in general, insights on her work connecting nature and belonging, played games and exercises with us that allowed us to connect with nature, play and be still. She reminded us the importance of being whimsy and playful in nature, even as and especially as adults. We had discussions about how nature hasn’t always felt like ours in the UK. How many of us haven’t always felt comfortable. So after lunch Shakura from @moja.collective shared with us her important work on getting Global Majority folk into green spaces to break down these barriers. She also shared some fun facts about various plants and trees. We ended the day at Denbies Vineyard for a chance to connect over a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage. @saskialuqmani thank you for an amazing day and for all you do. And Shukura for being with us and sharing your brilliant work with us. And thank you to all community members that joined for a day in nature, sisterhood, stillness, movement and community. Really enjoyed the day with you all. This is what Level Up London in person spaces are all about. Spotlighting the incredible talent we have, coming together in a way that nourishes, replenishes, educates and lifts our mind and bodies. Joy is resistance. Rest is resistance and personal development is as much about allowing yourself to just be as it is about doing the mindset work. Black and Brown women hold so much. This is our space to just be. I’m really proud of this partnership and thank you to @sarahmoon1972 too for all the behind the scenes support provided. And thank you to my mum for always making delicious packed lunches for us. 🌳🌿🌱🌺

A time was had! We have just returned from Outdoor Connections - A residential weekend to meet other nature based community leaders from all over the U.K. with a shared mission; to open up the outdoors so it’s accessible and represented by all 💚 The weekend was full of activities , walks, talks & giggles all led by us - for us. We led a netwalking event and co-led a workshop on successful partnerships with @openmindsactive, watched the sunset , are too many cookies and admired so many bunnies and lambs 😍 It was beautifully welcoming and @yhailamhall was stunning ☀️ If your a community leader with the same mission, highly recommend signing up next year💚 Thank you @alltheelements_ x @yhaofficial for another wholesome weekend

I was recently asked about why our people don't be outside, and it took me back to 10 years ago where environmental NGOs would ask me to consult them on how to better engage ethnic minorities in the UK. The cardinal rule of community engagement is to build relationships and meet people where they're at, rather than expecting them to come to you - but this still isn't widely practiced by non-profits who claim to be serving low-resourced communities. This conversation is so tired and I'm seeing up and coming young people in my field recieving the same question. Remember that Toni Morrison quote. ✨ The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing ✨
