I like to cook things

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This past weekend, I spontaneously catered a yoga retreat for 20 people in Ojai! I’d originally planned on going as a participant… and then my friend and teacher Saul David Raye told me he’d lost his chef for the retreat and asked if I could help, since he’d experienced my cooking before. So with only 2 days to plan, gather all the food, and drive 11 hours south, I enlisted TK and Reason, and we made it happen!
✨
2 dinners, 3 lunches… flavors traveling around the world the whole weekend. Huge success!
✨
And I got to visit with Béla, who came and helped us out with Thai night 🙏
I also got to reconnect with musician Donna DeLory, who was on the retreat too — and the music on this reel is her latest release, “Rainbow.” 🌈 Could it be more appropriate?! 🥰
So grateful for the experience, and for the time with my boys.

I’ve learned more about people than food. I don’t want it any other way.

We opened a restaurant. From start to finish, it was quite the adventure. It wasn’t easy—there were plenty of ups and downs, a mountain of permits, and some rebuilding along the way. We put our all into it, with a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and then some more blood 🩸

There’s something truly magical about turning a little idea into reality with the support of your favorite people.

@joplinsojai journey is just getting started, but the path we took to create it is one I’d happily walk again.

I hope you can come and join us @joplinsojai because we built this place for you. We want you to come and stay a while, listen to some good music, drink some good beer (na too of course), eat some good food and just have a good time. Hell, don’t even order anything and just come hang out. We just want to see your faces.

Hope to see u sooon 🤘

snowy photoshoot with my dear friends, survived an icy car accident. tried embroidery, got to be a server for Pat’s cooking, attended an LA Grammy event, took a valentines dance class and had plenty of picnics by the Ojai river. Alana visited!!! starred in Zolita’s queer line dancing music video and then started line dancing for fun 🫀
