‪This month marks 34 years since Dr. Edward J. Kosnik removed my brain tumor in June of 1992.

That tumor had caused seizures for much of my young life. It was wrongly diagnosed as epilepsy for several years, before the tumor was discovered.

Thanks to medical changes that saw the MRI become available and with the first MRI I ever had, that pesky tumor was discovered.

I am forever changed by the life experiences I had, I am grateful, thankful and blessed for the most expensive, worst haircut I could ever have. I live life a bit different than many. Much of it is because of my life changing experiences and brush with potential death at such a young age.

I want to pass along my passion for life and love for a sport that has always been there for me, even in the hardest times as a youth before the surgery and changed my life through the experiences I’ve had, the places I’ve been and people I’ve met all because of soccer.

Also, thanks to the medical marvels, I now have an amazing wife and family.

I started shaving you head roughly 15 years ago, because I recognized how I was changed and blessed by that one big unique scar that people should see to allow them to ask me about it.

You see, 1-in-every-10 people will have at least one seizure in their lifetime. My seizures were firstly incorrectly diagnosed as epilepsy. However, they were not epileptic. Mine were caused by a tumor.

Blessed that science and an amazing team of doctors and medical personnel were able to remove the root of my seizures I had as a child.

I’ve been able to connect with people of all ages and from all over the globe who have similar and also very different experiences.

I started shaving my head to expose this scar because I’m vulnerable and want to allow people to ask and talk. #BrainSurgery #Blessed ‬
