I am extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Molloy University. I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point.

First, I want to thank my parents, family, and friends for always supporting and believing in me. I would not be where I am today without you. I especially want to thank my Uncle Ed who has been to almost every single one of my baseball games.

Thank you to everyone at Long Island Elite and Common Sense Baseball, especially all my summer ball coaches like Greg Thomson, Joe Roche, JC Kiss, Frank Emanuele, Andrew Bock, JJ McLaughlin, and Joe Giac. Also a special thank you to Rob Savarese, who I have known for almost my entire baseball career. I have always turned to Rob for advice throughout my recruiting process and for so much more. I am extremely grateful for everything he has done for me.

Thank you to everyone at Prospect Performance, especially Leo, Tommy, Anthony Papa, and most importantly Bobby DeMichael. Bobby has stuck with me and continues to work with me through all of my pitching development. I am extremely thankful for everything he has done for me.

Thank you to everyone at Holy Trinity High School, especially Coach Dan Luisi, Nick McTighe, Dan Taggart, Coach Sal, and Coach Quiroz, for all of the time, advice, and support throughout my high school career.

I also want to give a special thank you to Coach Mike from the Hicksville Hurricanes, who was the first person to encourage me to become a pitcher. That decision put me on a path that has brought me here today, and I will always be grateful for that.

Finally, thank you to the coaches at Molloy University, especially Joe Fucarino, Ben Kovel, JC Kiss, and the rest of the Molloy coaching staff. I truly appreciate the belief the entire Molloy staff has shown in me and cannot wait to continue my baseball career for the Lions.

I am extremely grateful for everyone who has been a part of my journey and helped me get to this point. I can’t wait for what comes next.

Go Lions! 🦁

Next up on the Fall Ball Series Powered by Dreams Training Facility is Molloy University.

The Molloy Lions are no strangers to winning. After all, the three-time reigning ECC champions have captured five of the conference’s last six titles and won the NCAA East Regional last year before their run ended in the East Super Regional.

Even with Molloy’s impressive resume, head coach Joe Fucarino, the 2026 ECC Coach of the Year, stays laser-focused on the present.

“It’s a new book every year,” Fucarino said in an interview with Axcess Baseball. “Last year and all the years in front of it don’t mean anything for this year. I don’t even look at it as defending [titles].”

Luckily for the Lions, this year’s squad will feature a sizable amount of continuity. Molloy is returning five members of last year’s starting lineup, as well as a majority of its pitching staff.

In the infield, senior Brian Sanchez, who slashed .351 with an .841 OPS during an All-ECC First Team campaign a season ago, is set to reprise his role as the team’s everyday third baseman. Fellow seniors Mike Sweeney and Jack Vallario will also continue to be a formidable duo up the middle.

Like Sanchez, Sweeney also posted an .841 OPS while totaling a team-leading 25 steals as the Lions’ starting shortstop. Vallario reached base at a .425 clip in 2026 and accumulated a .822 OPS.

With three of last year’s four starting infielders returning, Fucarino emphasized his desire to build his team through recruiting high schoolers and keeping them at Molloy for the long haul.

“In this new world of transfering, I believe in development,” Fucarino said. “When you have a number of guys returning, your chemistry and culture really develop well. Returning guys nurture the underclassmen through the fall and then we get after it.”

Thomas Okpych, MVP NY 2027/St. Anthony’s HS, commits to Division II Molloy University!
.
The hard throwing left hander has been up to 89 with a filthy slider. Okpych averaged striking out 2 batters per inning this summer on the circuit. Has a chance to be special as he is just scratching the surface with plenty more in the tank.
.
Congratulations to Thomas and his family!

Sebastian LoGiudice, MVP NY 2027/Chaminade HS, has committed to Division II Molloy University!
.
The 6’1 LHP was great on the travel circuit this summer leading the staff in IP (29), ER (9) ERA (2.18) with 31K’s. A tireless worker, that knows how to pitch and has the right mindset on the mound to make it at the next level.
