Pinning Ceremony! Easily some of the hardest months of graduate coursework, clinical experiences, graduate assistantship hours, part time work, and more… but WE DID IT!

Next stop: internships! 🫧📚🧸🗣️💭 -> 🩻🫁🧠🦻🏼👄

My girls since day 1 at EIU! Couldn’t have made it through undergrad and grad without my roomies! 🤪

SO PROUD of this cohort! 🤟🏼 see you all in December for comp exams😳

One step closer to being an SLP! Thankful for these friendships🥰

Really going to miss seeing these smiles everyday in the clinic 😭

First day vs last day of graduate school classes!🥹 this is what a 14 month grad program will do to ya!😮‍💨😅

I pulled together memories through the years of my big Irish American family on St. Patrick's Day. Many are on my phone, and some are left from Grandma's disposable camera. All tell the story of a family built on love, loyalty, and friendship.

We march together through sun, snow, rain, ice, and wind. Sometimes, there are tears and arguments, but there are always laughter and smiles. We bring friends and partners; some return while others do not, but all are welcome.

Some of us eat corned beef, others don't. Some of us drink Guinness, some of us don't. Some of us have been back to Ireland, and others have no interest. We root for different sports teams, vote for different candidates and enjoy very different genres of music. No matter our differences, we embrace one another with love, good humor, and understanding.

As a look ahead to the parade XLI, I'm grateful for the memories, the people, the laughter, the lessons, and the songs that I've experienced on St. Patrick's Day and every day as an Ahern. Grá, Dílseacht, Cairdeas.

My soul needed a weekend filled with Ahern shenanigans. I can't believe our clan has been part of this parade for 40 years. For my lifetime, we've worn sweatshirts emblazoned with our family crest and the motto 'per ardua surgo', which means 'I rise through difficulties'. We've seen many difficulties over 40 years, but also so many blessings and triumphs. Our fierce love, deep faith, and oddball humor have seen us through and even earned us some tropies and front page coverage. Cheers to another 40 years, Aherns!
