Repost from @edinburghcreativeconnection Edinburgh Street Stitchers are bringing their mending skills to Doors Open Day this Saturday. Drop in with a garment that needs a little repair, pick up some mending tips and see how clothes can be repaired, adapted and given a new lease of life. There’ll also be an exhibition of mended and amended garments and a sustainable fabric tag-making workshop. Find them at Edinburgh Open Workshop, 39–41 Assembly Street, Leith, from 11am–4pm on Saturday 26 September. Entry is free. If you’re in #Edinburgh and some of your clothes need mending, bring them along to @themeadowsfestival at the weekend and learn how to fix them. @edinburghstreetstitchers volunteers will be on hand to share their experience and advise on how to create long lasting mends. We’ll have needles, threads, scissors, patches, darning yarn, so come along and join us for some mending in public fun. We will be at Pitch A127 on both Saturday and Sunday. Aaaah the OG mag has sold out, officially!! 💫 This green sheen guide - co-designed with the incred @yaldakesh + @mollyporteous - is a reimagined 00s teen mag with the visuals and attitude to match. There’s loads of scandal, flakey exes, an agony aunt, astrology, quizzes and freebies. And absolutely zero ads or shopping guides - as if! Designed for babes who give a f*ck, it exposes the real fashion sins (exploitation - not skinny jeans) that traditional media loves to ignore. The tea is it was supposed to be a one-off… until everyone started asking when the next issue was coming out and how to be a part of it! So NBI became something bigger: More hot takes. More community events. More mags with more contributors, interviews + photoshoots. The next issue is shaping up to be iconic and it’s all thanks to you! So ty to everyone who bought, bookmarked and raved about the first mag, to the dream team who helped put it together and to everyone who hung out IRL. We see it, we want it, we got it 💫 When the world is on fire, affirmations remind us of the bad bitches we are. They give us the confidence to keep showing up and channel our inner Elle Woods to fight injustice on the daily. At our mag launch party, it was so fun seeing everyone customise their fave affirmation card or write their own. September & October recap! 🌞🌸🍂 The last month has been a whirlwind of events and activities but I’ve managed to find some moments of calm within my community that have helped me stay grounded through the busier season 🌱 Big update: I joined the comms team @climate.cymru 💙 and jumped straight into the #ActNowChangeForever Wales mass lobby, bringing local Welsh voices into the climate conversation and calling for bold leadership ahead of the Senedd elections in May 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿📣 I finished my 2nd patch for the disability rights quilt at the lush @cardiffsewingsocial with @transient_rat and friends 🪡🧵 Reunited with the gardening club and did some seed saving at Railway Gardens @bemoresquirrel 💐🌻🌱 Finally, I went back to the 2000s to support my besties @melwatt_ & @mollyporteous at the Not Buying It mag launch party and had the best time making bag charms and getting temp tattoos 💖📖 If you grew up reading girly mags and want to learn more about greenwashing, go get your copy!! @notbuyingitmag 📷 Mass lobby photos: @hannahtottlephoto

Us slow fashion girlies know how to have a good time 🪩 Our gratitude list is as long as our brand hit list, but thank you SO much to everyone who has bought a mag, raved about it, shared it with a friend, hit that follow button or celebrated with us IRL 💗 Last night confirmed that we’re onto something. When the world is on fire, being in community and around other babes who give a f*ck matters. Anger is so valid, but we also need to find joy - not as a distraction but as an anchor to keep showing up. There’s too much to fight for to fall into apathy. We can’t give brands and governments the satisfaction, so we hope this mag is a gateway for more people to join us.
