As part of The Language of Photojournalism – Documentary Photography Program by @dmjx in Cairo, our 12 participants completed an intensive five-day Photojournalistic Method workshop led by @sorenpagter Throughout the workshop, participants worked on their story ideas, took part in thoughtful discussions, had a short photo assignment, edited their visual stories, and received feedback on their storytelling approach and editorial thinking. on June 30, we had Søren’s former student @sahlabdelrahman , as a guest speaker. He shared his ongoing documentary project, offering participants insights into his creative process and personal journey as a visual storyteller. On July 2nd, we were also delighted to host Diving into My Archive Talk, which brought together a full house of photographers and many of Søren’s former students. Through four decades of street photography, he reflected on storytelling, human connection, image editing, and the journey of transforming photographs into books, giving the audience an inspiring look into the stories behind the images. A huge thank you to Søren Pagter for his knowledge and mentorship throughout the program, and to our wonderful participants. Highlights from the first workshop of the Language of Photojournalism Program by @dmjx @dmjxphoto in Cairo 📸 A powerful 5-day portrait photography workshop led by Danish instructor @madsgreve , focusing on the journalistic portrait and its role in visual storytelling. Throughout the workshop, participants explored different examples, discussed approaches to portraiture, and worked on daily portrait assignments that challenged them to observe, connect, and tell stories through images. The week ended with a special talk titled “Photographing a State of Mind,” where Mads presented photographic work based on his own life, using fragments of reality to create narratives of moods, emotions, and states of mind. A special thanks to the Danish Embassy in Cairo @denmarkinegypt for fully supporting the programme. Thank you to Mads Greve for this inspiring and enriching week, and special thanks to our wonderful 12 participants for their dedication, energy, and beautiful work throughout the workshop ❤️ 🎥 : @yasserfarouk_ph
