Re/View: Earlier this year I spoke to a class of @artcenteredu high school students about some past things I've done on the art direction / graphic design side of things. These were some of my slides and notes about them. (Thanks @flingingmud for the invite!) . The first consistent design things I made were flyers for hardcore and punk shows at a DIY community space called Macondo Espacio Cultural @macondohardcore here in L.A. in the 90s. That scene - and the artistic output related to it - continues to have a big influence on on my art and practice. . Strife @strife_la were one of Macondo's most consistent and active supporters. Fast-forward to this millenium, I was stoked to be able to collab with them on some limited-run 7 inch records released at some pivotal HxC events. I also designed their Witness A Rebirth album and some type treatments that ended up on shirts, merch, etc. . Streetwise Clothing @streetwisegear - under the art direction of @dsrup - asked me to design gear for some of their past seasons. I also created a logo for them - based on the typeface Cinta Adhesiva I designed for Wordshape Type Foundry- that is still in use. . I was Art Director for a few years after grad school of a magazine called URB that had its roots in L.A.'s underground music cultures including the early warehouse rave scene and hip-hop from a west coast perspective.
