Some weeks remind me exactly why I love what I do.

The past few days have been a whirlwind in Johannesburg, hosting media, launching exciting new hospitality concepts and catching up with some of the industry’s best journalists, creators and clients.

From introducing Amazon Restaurant in Menlyn, Pretoria, to celebrating The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg’s new health-forward Prix Fixe Lite Lunch and dedicated 0% cocktail menu at The Peech Hotel, every event was filled with great conversations, incredible food and so much positive energy. We wrapped it all up with a fantastic evening at Ocaso in Rosebank.

Seeing months of planning come together and watching media experience these concepts firsthand is one of the most rewarding parts of working in PR.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to my amazing team at Manley Communications Atelier for making it all happen. On to the next one! ✨

📍Amazon Menlyn, Menlyn Park Shopping Centre

Founded by Ben Stanger and Luke Dakers, alongside Heinz Rynners from the team behind Greenhouse Sandton, and Pretoria born co owner Estiaan Joubert, Amazon seats around 400 guests and marks the group’s most ambitious project to date.

Morning mimosas on the cabana deck give way to long lunches over shared plates, before dinner service settles in beneath glowing onyx bars and the energy lifts into the evening.

Brunch has already become one of the restaurant’s defining offerings. Weekends centre around live music, relaxed afternoons and groups gathering over bottles of bubbly and shared plates. It works equally well for girls’ catch ups, bridal brunches, birthdays, baby showers and long Sunday lunches that turn into dinner.

The concept is Greenhouse 2.0 in Stanger’s own framing, but one that puts far more emphasis on the food. Drawing on Brazilian and South American flavours with a Japanese influence running through the menu, the kitchen moves naturally from brunch and lunch into dinner and late night dining.

We love it!

The main event:
Grilled whole lobster with roasted garlic and herbed butter, served topped with a mixed leaf salad.

It's hard to do justice to the sheer size of this Mozambican lobster.

Mouthwatering! 😋🦞

It's Friday and we're at Pretoria's newest dining and entertainment destination to experience all that they have to offer today.
Amazon is the new Latin inspired dining and experience destination, now open at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, Pretoria.

Designed as an all day destination, suited to slow brunches, celebratory lunches, dinner with friends and late night drinks. It is a space that changes naturally throughout the day.

Drawing on Brazilian and South American flavours with a Japanese influence running through the menu, the kitchen moves naturally from brunch and lunch into dinner and late night dining.
Chef Siya Mlaba, whose fifteen (15) years across London, New York and Mexico inform the menu, puts it simply: “We’ve paid close attention. Every dish is a taste of somewhere, made completely our own.”

Starters move from crispy chilli lime squid with avo salsa and charred corn, to roasted bone marrow with grilled bread, panko prawns glazed in tamarind turmeric, sea bass ceviche cured in citrus leche de tigre, and Tuna Laqueado with passion fruit, pineapple salsa and sesame.

The sushi menu combines Japanese technique with South American flavours.

For mains, the hardwood fired picanha remains one of the kitchen’s standout dishes, served with burnt sage butter and smoked salt, alongside flame grilled sea bass with shimeji mushrooms and béchamel, and premium steaks paired with creamy mash, coconut rice and crispy baby potatoes.

Desserts continue the South American influence with warm churros served alongside dulce de leche and dark chocolate sauce and a Brazilian pavê layered with espresso soaked biscuits and dulce de leche cream.

Outside, the cabana deck overlooks a fountain, where live music, relaxed brunches and long afternoons are already becoming part of the restaurant’s rhythm. Inside and out, every section of the venue carries its own mood and pace, giving guests reason to stay from morning into late evening.

Pretoria, you have a new hotspot. 🌿✨

I recently attended the launch of Amazon Menlyn, and from the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be more than just another restaurant. Think lush interiors, beautiful cocktails, live entertainment, and a menu that takes you on a journey through Latin American flavours with a Japanese twist.

From fresh sushi and seafood to perfectly grilled mains and indulgent desserts, every dish was thoughtfully curated and beautifully presented. My favourite part? The atmosphere. Whether you’re planning a girls’ brunch, date night, celebration, or cocktails with friends, Amazon effortlessly transforms from a relaxed daytime destination into a vibrant evening experience.

If you’re looking for your next dining spot in Pretoria, this one deserves a place on your list.

The Food&Home team in Joburg spent yesterday afternoon exploring @amazonmenlyn , Pretoria’s newest dining destination, and it did not disappoint. 🌴

From signature cocktails and zesty starters to a perfectly cooked prime steak and lobster main, every course brought something memorable to the table. We finished on a high with a silky dulce de leche cheesecake and a decadent chocolate fondant topped with black pepper meringue.

Add in the lush interiors, vibrant atmosphere and Latin-inspired flavours, and it’s easy to see why Amazon is already making waves on the local food scene. Read all about it in the link in our bio. ✨
