Celebrate Wolf Awareness Week by learning about states' wolf plans. Last month, we launched the first Team Wolf State Wolf Management Report Card for 2026.

Every state writes its own wolf plan, but almost most nobody reads them.

That is what they were graded on and the information that went into this: budgets, annual reports, depredation logs, hunting regulations, and the goals buried on page forty. Ten states, twelve questions each, and a linked source behind every single score, so anyone can check the answer against the document it came from.

It is all in one place now, and it is public. That is the part that matters. An agency can see exactly where it stands, and so can everybody else.

See the full report card at teamwolf.org/report-card and share it with others this week!

As Wolf Awareness Week kicks off, we've hit the midpoint of the most recent political threat to the future of American wolves.

Trump’s September 4 order has put Gray Wolves and Mexican wolves on a 90-day countdown toward a decision that could open the door to weakening their federal protections. Halfway through that countdown, action is more important than ever.

Recovery is not a finish line. It is not permission to walk away, hand wolves’ fate back to the states, and make it easier to kill them. It is a responsibility to protect the progress that science and the Endangered Species Act made possible.

If Wolf Awareness Week means anything, it must mean more than talking about wolves when it’s easy. It means standing up for them when their future is being decided.

Tell Congress: Defend the Endangered Species Act and keep Gray and Mexican wolves protected at TeamWolf.Org!

👻 They know what we did this summer.

Some of you may remember our incredible day at Moose Creek in July, some of you may have been there.

See if you made it in the B-roll on PBS's This American Land- Season 14, episode 04 ⬇️
https://www.pbs.org/video/this-american-land-sbdemg/

This short doc features The Beaver Institute, who's work is at the forefront of a beaver come-back story across the country. We are grateful to be part of that story as we partner with Beaver Institute's Beaver Corps, The Nature Conservancy, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and the Forest Service.

Creating landscape resilience isn't a solo-job. We applaud beavers for being the stars of the show, but we know the work it takes in the background to help them succeed. Moose Creek Volunteers: We couldn't do it without you.

On my last day at Big Arm State Park, I was cleaning the restrooms and getting ready to close out the season when I turned around and found a full-size mama bobcat sitting just five feet away, watching me.
I froze and tried to get my phone but she slipped into the bushes like it was no big deal, so I grabbed my broom and kept cleaning.

Later, on my walk back to my car, I spotted something hopping through the tall grass. I crouched down, waited, and sure enough, it was a baby bobcat! One of the coolest wildlife encounters I’ve ever had. I’m a Grizzly @umwildlife by heart, but I have to admit… this little bobcat was pretty cute @montanastatebobcats 🐾

River season is winding down and our loaner life jackets are ready to head into storage for the winter.

If you borrowed a loaner life jacket, please return it to any of our partner drop locations so it can be prepped for next summer.

You can bring life jackets back to West Glacier River Access, Glacier Rim River Access, Lary's Fly & Supply in Columbia Falls, or the Hungry Horse Ranger Station on weekdays.

This program is the only loaner life jacket program on moving water in Montana and it exists thanks to an incredible team of partners working together to keep river users safe. Huge thanks to MT Fish Wildlife and Parks, Flathead National Forest, Glacier National Park, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Armed Forces Initiative volunteers, and Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety Program!!

Permanent stations at West Glacier and Glacier Rim keep life jackets available from Memorial Day through Labor Day and roving pop-up stations run by River Ambassadors help fill in the gaps throughout the summer. Every returned jacket helps us keep this community safety program strong for next year.

Thanks for helping us keep the Flathead River safe, welcoming, and ready for everyone who loves to float it 🌊💙✨

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

USDA just told every wolf state to take another look at its protections. Not its science. Its protections.

The memo urges states to loosen wolf protections and send @usdagov more requests to kill wolves, before the federal government has even finished deciding whether Gray Wolves and Mexican Wolves keep their Endangered Species Act protection. Killing first, paperwork later. Secretary Burgum’s decision is due in early December.

Ten states, roughly 8,000 Gray Wolves in the lower 48. Three of them, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, already decide what happens to their wolves. The other seven would only if protection comes off. This memo is the Administration leaning on all of them, and on Burgum, at once.

Tell Congress: keep Gray Wolves and Mexican Wolves federally protected. The letter is found at the link in our bio and only takes 30 seconds to send.
