A full-circle moment. 🦅🇵🇪✨

To be a speaker at @montclair_hispanicinitiatives’ Hispanic Heritage Block Party, surrounded by the beautiful cultures and stories of our Latino communities, reminded me just how far I’ve come.

As a first-generation Peruvian American, representing my heritage and using my voice at the university that helped shape me was truly meaningful.

Through life’s challenges, growth, and unexpected turns, I’ve found myself back where part of my journey began. My younger undergraduate self, once filled with dreams and uncertainties, would be incredibly proud of the woman and future social worker I am becoming today. 🥹

Grateful to celebrate our roots, resilience, and the power of representation. Shoutout to Marco and Marilyn from @montclair_hispanicinitiatives for believing in me. ♥️

This one is for my guardian angels who also believed in me and taught me to let God take care of everything and just trust the process. ✨

From music therapy students to board-certified music therapists!

We are so proud of our Cali School music therapy alumni and the incredible work they are doing in their communities. It’s wonderful to see the many different paths they’ve taken and the ways they continue to grow, create, and make a difference through music therapy and beyond.

To all our alumni, we love seeing what you’re up to! Please keep in touch, share your work, and let us know where your music therapy journey has taken you!

Back where it all started. Montclair State University ♥️ 🖤 🎓

Walking these grounds brought back so many memories. This is where I learned from the BEST professors, who pushed us hard to become the BEST in the business. It’s where I discovered my passion for journalism, politics, and community service.

I graduated from my alma mater with honors, and I dedicate every bit of it to the beautiful woman beside me: my mother. 💐 She put me through college on her own, making me the first in our family to graduate from a university in the United States.

That diploma opened the door to everything that followed: landing a job at #CNBC and then #News12 right out of college, working in the communications office of former Governor Jon Corzine, becoming the first in our family to start my own public and government relations business, running for office, and so much more.

I don’t share this for the accolades. I share it because I’m one of many first-generation Latina immigrants. At a time when people who look like me are being persecuted, I believe it matters to share stories of how we contribute to this beautiful country. I am part of the Latino American journey, and so are you.

Share your story, and please stand with us. 🙏🏽

Love, Cristina #MSU

Homecoming was a day filled with fun, laughter, and loads of memories. Each year, University Libraries displays various archival items from Montclair's history as well as giving visitors the chance to peruse past yearbooks.

One fun activity that alumni have enjoyed year after year is finding their photo in our collection of digitized yearbooks!

This year, to enhance the experience, not only did alumni find their photo, but we now provided a printed sticker on-the-spot!

Check out these alumni Red Hawks, along with the photo they took upon graduation from the 70's until now.
