POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Summer at home. The sweet fruits. The fresh river dips. The endless blue skies. The fresh flowers picked in the morning. A cold homemade iced tea and a new filled harvest basket every day. Wood piled up for winter. Naps under the kiwis. Sunglitters allover the place. Discovering new things and places close to home. Trying new crafts and flavorful combinations. Ending the days in the last rays of sun, on our sunbeds. Talking through the day. Or saying nothing at all and listen to the crickets, the birds and the wind rustling the leaves.

Quero descobrir. Viver, cantar, sair.

🇵🇹 Monte Barbo Reserva 2012

Monte Barbo Reserva 2012 is a disarming wine, a sleeper triumph from the granite-rich heights of Beira Interior, delivering elegance and depth with a voice all its own. Its deep garnet robe is edged with soft, mature hues, revealing faint clay-like reflections under the light, a subtle nod to its age and structure. Once opened and given a few minutes to breathe, the wine unveils a rush of black fruit: ripe plums, bramble blackberries, and crushed blueberries fold into rich cassis, slowly giving way to a darker, moodier spectrum of aromas. There’s tobacco leaf and aged leather here, gently wrapped in vanilla, pine resin, and eucalyptus, with a dusting of cocoa powder and wild mushrooms beneath. It’s a forest walk at dusk — fragrant, earthy, alive with detail. As it evolves, the wine reveals its tertiary soul: balsamic hints, a trace of bitter dark chocolate, and whispers of dried herbs carried on a cool mountain breeze. On the palate, the structure is both commanding and graceful. The 15% ABV is seamlessly tucked into layers of flavor, being powerful, yet never overpowering. Acidity provides freshness and lift, while the tannins, though firm, are rounding into silk, delivering presence without austerity. The finish is long, brooding, and quietly spectacular, much like an echo across granite cliffs. This is a wine to pause for — ideal alongside rich game dishes, aged sheep’s cheese, or a meditative moment all to yourself. Drink now, or hold through 2028 to watch its story deepen even further.
