It's about making space for women in an industry that has historically asked them to work twice as hard — and choosing, every time, to keep building instead of stepping back.

That commitment was recognised when FAME Week Africa named her among Africa's Leading Women in Entertainment – Behind-the-Scenes Honourees.

From major commercial productions to locally rooted stories, from her own production credits to mentoring the next wave of African filmmakers — Monalisa Chisango proves that African creatives don't have to choose between global relevance and authentic identity.
They can have both.

Her production credits read like a masterclass in African television: SA's Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice Nigeria, The Voice South Africa, The Real Housewives of Durban, The Ultimatum: South Africa, and Young, Famous & African — whose Season 3 earned Best Non-Scripted TV Series at the National Film and Television Awards South Africa.

But for Monalisa, the work has never just been about the credits.

It's about stories that reflect African realities — like A Future Untold, the Zimbabwean short film she executive produced, bringing a deeply local story closer to home.

It's about building people, not just productions — through masterclasses in Reality TV Production and Vertical Formats, she's equipping the next generation of Zimbabwean storytellers with practical, hands-on experience.

This week, Legacy Women shines the spotlight on Monalisa Chisango — the creative force behind some of Africa's most recognised television formats, from SA's Got Talent and The Voice Nigeria to the award-winning Young, Famous & African.

But her story goes beyond the screen credits. It's a story of authentic African storytelling, of building people through masterclasses and mentorship, and of making space for the women coming up behind her.
