This season, Mooni and our directors, Andrea Monroy and Teodoro Moya, were featured in @tmagazine, @holamexico and @maneramexico —three different looks at the project, the way we think about art, and the community that has grown around it.

Celebrating one month of Mooni New York.

The space was full of people, but also full of conversations. Questions, curiosity, and the feeling that something new was beginning.

The opening reminded us why we built this space in the first place: to create encounters between people and art that feel immediate, unexpected, and alive.

Thank you for such a warm welcome.

El espacio estaba lleno de gente, pero también de conversaciones. Preguntas, curiosidad y la sensación de que algo nuevo estaba empezando.

La apertura nos recordó por qué construimos este espacio: para crear encuentros entre personas y arte que se sientan inmediatos, inesperados y vivos.

Mooni (@_m.o.o.n.i_) started as a wall. Literally. A two meter wide display inside a design store in Condesa, Mexico City, where founders Andrea Monroy (@moonand_y) and Teodoro Moya (@ordaz__) hung prints and small-format works by artists from their circle. 🇲🇽 No wall texts, no hierarchies, just art and a price beside it. That was 2019. 🎨

Today Mooni operates three spaces in Mexico City with nearly 800 works in circulation and just opened its first location outside of Mexico in a basement on Orchard Street in the Lower East Side. Designed in collaboration with LANZA Atelier, the space features white perforated panels arranged in a spiral that reveals itself as you descend from the street, with works by artists whose trajectories span Venezuela, Iran, Japan, and Mexico. 🌀

In a city where art swings between museum souvenirs and investment pieces, Mooni occupies the middle ground. A gallery built for people with visual curiosity who never felt like the art world was made for them. 🖼️
