Get ready for August’s Merdeka-themed GA MARKET! 🌟

Join us on Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25, from 12pm-6pm at The Godown. August is turning out to be a very exciting month with so many artsy happenings.

We had inter-disciplinary Australian artist Gav Barber stay with us for 5 days at the beginning of the month, as part of our new artist residency programme. Gav shared his daily morning somatic practice with us gathering leaves, twigs, fruit, flowers from around for an ephemeral sculpture of his face. He also conducted two wonderful somatic art/movement workshops while here, one with refugee children and another for the public.

Leading up to GA, we will have more weekly events this month, a movement workshop emphasising macrobiotic and somatic practice taught by Lau Beh Chin (Aug 11 and 18) and a weaving workshop led by our next resident artist Natalia Tan from Singapore (Aug 26 and 27), coinciding with GA.

We will have an amazing selection of artists, crafters, designers, and paper crafters here to share their beautiful, quirky, cool creations and inspire you. Details shortly!

See you soon!

Fundraiser & Adoption Drive @sunnysideup_market.
Special thanks to @sunnysideup_market for helping us make this event a success. Thank you @barkeryoven for the mooncakes and for always having us close to your heart. Thank you Midori for the homemade pet treats. Thank you vendors of Sunny Side Up Market who gave our pups lots of hugs and love, and for letting them steal your food 😄. (Disclaimer: They did that on their own. We don’t know anything. 🤷‍♀️🤷)
Thank you volunteers, rescuers and everyone who supported us. Thank you for helping us help our doggies.

It's a wrap for the 38th Sunny Side Up Market!

We'd like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all the new and returning brands & small businesses that joined us for our little community market over the weekend. It was a pleasure working with each and everyone of you! We are so grateful for your support and hard work, and we hope you had a lovely time meeting your industry peers, chatting with customers and showcasing your beautiful wares :)

A special thanks to @cherishlifehome who came all the way from Negeri Sembilan to host a fundraiser for their animal shelter along with an adoption drive featuring a few adorable pet's they've rescued. (A big high five to @barkeryoven for introducing us to their warm and benevolent team).

Last but not least, a hearty thank you to all the friends, families, customers and pets that came over to champion and support our incredible line up of vendors!! We had a great time hanging out you and we hope you enjoyed our market~

Till then, we look forward to seeing everyone at our next event - the Sunny Side Up Christmas Market- which will take place on 2 & 3 December (mark your calendars!). We can't wait to see you again!

Recap of serbanaeka Mixer 01: Some of the best people I’ve ever met. So warm, so bright, and so so passionate. What I thought would be 2 hours of cold and awkward exchanges of a few people, turned out to be hours long of loud laughters and warm conversations that made the mixer so fulfilling to organise and host. Most of these have never met before, and yet they all clicked so well instantly.

Some, despite knowing each other for a while –finally met for the first time! There was no better feeling than to see fruitful relationships build in front of you.

I honestly did not expect this turnout, considering I posted about the mixer less than a week before the event itself. The creative community is so supportive, considerate, and welcoming. To show my appreciation for them, I threw a lil magic show to illustrate some of the life lessons I hope could inspire and help them through tough times.

A special thank you to @mereka.io for wanting to support this initiative. And for those that supported the mixer in your own way, either by sharing about it, bringing your friends, or attending (especially those that don’t know about serbanaeka) – thank you for believing in me and my vision. I’m very excited to help you guys more.

For those that don’t know – serbanaeka is an independent digital magazine for art, music, artisanal goods, and lifestyle. serbanaeka is about celebrating local creatives of all genres in Malaysia. serbanaeka is about showcasing what Malaysians are capable of.
