The FIP Silver Guimarães is generating controversy due to the conditions of the court's surface. Mónica Gómez stated that what happened was "unacceptable" and that "from day one" there were constant complaints about "the numerous irregularities and damage to the surface" and "the dangerous conditions," "but no action was taken." The player suffered "a serious Achilles tendon injury" during the semi-finals after stepping on "one of the court's numerous imperfections." Julia Polo, who partnered with Gómez, reinforced the criticism, beginning by saying that she went from playing at Roland Garros to playing "on courts where the safety of the players is at risk." "Throughout the tournament, several players complained and asked that the court conditions be checked. However, nothing was done," she added. Andrés Fernández Lancha, who played in the semis and strongly criticized the organization, confirmed the complaints, saying he was "frightened" with "every step on the uneven track."
