GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY? YOU DECIDE Dissection Of A Murder by Jo Murray Released (5th May 2026) Star Rating -⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked by the victim: a well-known, well-respected judge, whose death sent shockwaves through the legal community. She's nowhere near experienced enough to handle such a high-profile assignment but the defendant is insistent: he wants her, and only her, to represent him. Except he’s refusing to talk. And if that wasn’t complicated enough, Leila soon learns her opponent is the most ruthless prosecutor she’s ever known: her husband! This is a debut novel which is something that always lends to slight trepidation, however that wasn't the case (pun intended) here as this felt very accomplished. The writing was excellent, it was very well paced and I loved the structure. There's also such level of detail that you can tell this is a world the author clearly comes from and that serves to really help immerse you in the story. There's a great build of anticipation leading up to the trial and to Jack taking the stand. Once we finally get there the tension is absolutely palpable and in the third act we get reveals, twists and a recontextualisation that will leave you picking your jaw off the floor. Jo Murray has instantly became an auto buy author (4.5 stars rounded up). Thank you to @bookbreakuk and @jomurraywrites for providing me with this beautiful copy and a place on the advanced reader readalong. Thank you also to everybody who was on the readalong it was a blast. #DissectionOfAMurder #JoMurray #Bookstagram #BookReview #Books
