If someone came to me and asked how we would do a beater to represent the movie Alien, I would say that this set personifies that experience.

I had the pleasure to meet @getwithagoat sometime in 2025, and the two of us quickly became friends. From the day he sat down behind my kit while we were hanging out, he told me that he wanted to get a set of these beaters, but just didn’t know what to go with.

So, after much back-and-forth, we decided to tie into a black and chrome theme, but made it evil by floating opaque black pigment inside of a translucent black base… essentially giving off alien vibes…you know…before all the space action happened.

Anyways, we’re so stoked with how these came out, and so was J! They’re evil, mysterious, and badass, and we couldn’t have had them go to a better human or musician here in Austin.

J, as always, I appreciate your friendship and we appreciate your trust in us, welcome to the family!

As with any business, we often say that a recommendation to your peers is one of the highest compliments anyone can pay to us.

Such as the case with this special beater that went out to our new friend and Moonshot family member @13beatz after glowing recommendation from mutual friend and Moonshot Mission Commander @johnnycdrums.

After several successful recordings with Johnny, RJ hit us up wanting a beater of his own as a musical tool in the studio. Knowing how much sound quality mattered, we opted for a leather face to give him a little more flexibility across different artists, and to help take the edge off of a solid face beater that could otherwise be slightly too punchy, depending on the music that he’s working on.

Of course, we had to go with some crazy colors, so RJ hit us with the gold and green combo that we so lovingly referred to as “The Pot of Gooooooooold”.

We are excited to have RJ as part of the family, his work speaks for itself, and it’s been a pleasure getting to know him and explore the music he’s created and worked on.

RJ, thanks again for trusting us, we can’t wait to hear this guy in action soon!

Like it or not, stuff breaks, and when it breaks we always pull through and find ways to keep guys moving with new and improved beaters.

Such is the case with this revised set of beaters for our boys @claytonwintides and @jimmyelcock! Longtime Moonshot family members, Clayton and Jimmy came on board in 2025 and unfortunately, the original “Outlaw” beaters we made just couldn’t handle Jimmy’s bodacious beats and gave up the ghost.

So, Devin and I took the chance to upgrade Jimmy to the Apollo 2.0 and Clayton hit us with an all-new color scheme that will literally light up the stage. With a base color derived from the original Blue/Gold set, Clayton asked us to go big on the color and add a glow element to the picture, which Devin was more than happy to do! Capped off with day-glo logos and an orange afterburner, these are ready for the big stage!

Clayton, as always, it’s a pleasure working with you. Thank you for your continued support.

Jimmy, can’t wait for you to have these on stage, thanks again for being part of the Moonshot family!

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again…Devin loves it when someone wants bright-ass colors for their beaters!

When the time comes to do bright, no one does it better than Devin, and when our most recent Mission Commander hit us up asking for something eye-searing, Devin had him locked and loaded in no time flat.

Inspired by a previous custom order, @official_drummeryogi took it once step further and had his nickname in chrome pink vinyl added to the top for a little of that “So-cal hot rod” vibe. A fan of punchy tones, he also opted for a solid face to really bring that thump when he’s behind the kit at Sunday service.

We honestly can’t get enough of these bright-ass beaters, and we’re excited to see what colors Wesly cooks up for his next round of beaters.

Thanks again amigo for your trust in us, and thanks for being one of the best parts of Moonshot!

As we have said before, sometimes things break…and when they do, we work to make the next version better, stronger, and more badass than before!

So…when our friend and beast behind the kit, @ahh_ceh broke his absolutely gorgeous Nuclear Spaghetti beaters while on tour with @hailthesun , he was heartbroken and we knew we had to build him something even cooler (and stronger) than he’s ever had.

Enter Nuclear Spaghetti 2.0…easily one of the most insane beaters we’ve done to date. With slivers of pure luminosity mixed into the beater resin, these beauties will be hard to miss on stage as Allen puts them through their paces. (Peep that final slide to see what I mean)

Allen, you are truly a great friend and performer, we appreciate you trusting us with your kick sound and we’re stoked to have these once again under your feet!

Alright, the final installment of the 1.0 beaters!

Capping things off with a family favorite (the wives love this one) as this 1.0 went out to Moonshot family member @memphomusicnerd!

A long time supporter and early adopter of the Apollo platform, our boy Ben has been rocking his Godzilla-inspired since the early days of us just figuring out what we were doing, and we’re thankful for his support and encouragement.

This Pink Panther-inspired casting was completed with a full assortment of afterburners so Ben can customize to his hearts content, and the felt face adds a perfect compliment to his solid face doubles from back in the day.

This won’t be the last of the 1.0’s, but it’s certainly a fan favorite here in the Moonshot stable! Thanks again Ben!!

Other than insane color combos, nothing else gets Devin excited for a set of beaters than the ability to try color mimicking someones drum kit - a skill that he has honed over years of matching colors to guitar bodies when making custom controls knobs.

So when @bren.courtney hit us up and asked “hey, can you match these new Rogers drums?”, Devin jumped at the chance to try his had at it once more. Despite having never seen the finish in-person, the Antique Cream look was absolutely smashed as Devin also added some chunky silver flake to match Brenden’s silver pinstriping.

Now, while we are no stranger to sets of doubles for clients, Brenden decided to mix it up and asked for two face options for his beaters, an excellent sonic choice to allow him to tailor his sound to the music, and a combo that we rarely see.

Brenden, it’s been great getting to know you, we’re stoked you’re in the Moonshot family now, have fun with these on tour!

Alright! We’re back with another throwback to the 1.0 chassis!

One of my personal favorites - and a favorite of many - was the original “blue balls blue” color way that we did for a local Moonshot family member. Well, imagine our surprise when we found the 2nd beater casting sitting in our inventory…unclaimed…and waiting for someone to give it a good smack.

Well, that person is our friend Mr. @rjldrums22589 who instantly saw this thing and said to us “I gotta have it!”

With a quick clean up, a fresh leather face to give him a little more oomph with a little less punch, and a luminous afterburner, this orphan BBB Apollo made its way to the Northeast to one of the nicest guys around.

Russ is a massive supporter of Moonshot, and we’re stoked to have gotten him a 1.0 to add to his collection!

Every once in a while we have the opportunity to try something totally unique based on inspiration provided by our wonderful clients, and this week’s set of demonic beaters was no exception.

Inspired by the world of gemstones and geology, our new friend @benjahansen came us with a vision of a set of beaters that looked and felt like the blood opal gemstone. I’d say…look nailed!

With a bloody red translucent base, and some trick work with larger than average sparkles and hologram flakes, Devin managed to capture the spirit of a polished piece of jewelry with the same poly blend that we’ve become synonymous with.

As with all of our custom beaters, we are thankful for the chance to try something new, and we’re happy to have Benjamin as part of the Moonshot family across the Atlantic. Thanks again!

If there is one thing that Devin enjoys more than anything else we do here at Moonshot, it’s getting the opportunity to mix colors in ways he’s never done before…especially when the words “UV pigment” and “luminous material” are involved in the process.

So when crafting a set for another Moonshot family member, this insanely Nuclear option was born and we knew it had to have a home before Devin mounted them on his lathe as new control handles.

Enter our new friend @kokodrums, Mr. Matthew Kohanowski.

The moment these were posted as available, he knew he found himself a match. With his selection of black rods and a black payload screw, the now aptly named “NukePuke” beaters were born. And Nuclear they are! (You have to check out the last slide!!)

A slayer behind the kit, it’s only fitting that Matt’s insanely radioactive kick work would need a matching set of beaters, and these are going to do the trick nicely. We’re excited to have Matt playing our beaters, he’s a hell of a player and an even better person.

Matthew, welcome to the Moonshot Family, stoked to have you here!

It’s always a ton of fun to craft a set of beaters for a friend, so when my buddy @summerville.drums hit me up wanting a set to compliment his new kit from the boys at Buck’s County, we knew we’d have a good time!

Starting with a blood red translucent base, Devin took a chance and blended this sinister hue with the new Galaxy Sparkle Pearl that he recently added to the pallet, and the result is absolutely stunning.

Josh also opted for the leather faces on these with the matching black payload screw, which in my opinion was the right move!

Josh, thanks again for joining the family my man, it’s great to have you on board! Stoked to see you put these through their paces!
