Making friends as an adult is hard. Everyone’s busy, everyone has their own lives, and you don’t really have those built-in opportunities to meet people like you did when you were younger.

I started cooking because I needed an outlet from a job I hated. It became therapeutic for me, and somewhere along the way I realized I’d built a skill that gave me an excuse to invite people over.

“Hey, I’m making dinner. You wanna come over?”

A lot of the friendships I have today started with something that simple. Turns out making friends as an adult doesn’t have to be that complicated.

Learning how to cook can change your life. You just have to open the door and invite people in.

I’m so excited to finally share my new branding and website, created over the past few months with @moorebetterstudio.
We put a lot of thought into this project, and I’m very proud of where we landed. It feels more like me—more intentional, more curious, more colorful, MooreBetter 😏. One of my favorite parts of this business will always, always be the people it brings into my life 🤍

Getting to collaborate with some of my dearest friends (@rumi.lane) on something like this made it all the more special. What started as a simple idea for custom embroidery at the ASD retreat last year turned into designing custom patches and creating a full experience for our team this time around.

Everyone got to sit down, pick their pieces, and make something of their own. It felt creative and thoughtful in a really genuine way.

Gab & Ryan, thank you for being the best creative partners and for making the day feel truly magical.

We started Austin Oyster Co in the spring of 2020, when we were all missing the experiences and the connection the pandemic had taken from us. Our goal was to make great oysters more accessible — you could enjoy high quality oysters from the comfort of your own home.

We couldn’t have predicted where this ride would take us: we’ve served over 100K oysters, been voted the best pop up in Austin, started our own oyster farm in Maine, and shucked at events like F1, ACL, and Luck Reunion. All along the way, we’ve been lucky to have a great team, work with great partners, and serve great customers.

Thank you for being along for the ride! 🙏 Next year will bring our biggest milestones yet — 2026, we’re ready for ya.

👋 Our perfect little terra cotta footed vase paired with perfectly understated hues of muted mauve, sand, and oatmeal. Forever a classic. One of our brides, Lauren, recently did a graphic design project with us (can’t wait to share 👀), so naturally I had to revisit her wedding floral.
