Istwa nou gen valè, lavi nou gen valè, pakou ak chimen nou gen valè. Sa se foto sè ak frè nou, Guenson e Manouchka ak ti pitit fi yo Nohemie. Guenson ak Manouchka soti Chili pou yo rive Tekzas. Yo travèse 11 peyi nan de kondisyon ineksplikab. Yo wè lanmò, yo wè de bagay terib. Men malgre sa, zansèt yo gide yo. Jodi a y ap viv Nouyòk. Men malgre sa yo gen rèv pou Ayiti. Yon rèv ke nou tout pataje: yon jou na va tounen nan peyi nou pou n viv nan lapè, lanmou, egalite, konpasyon, ak akseptans. Mèsi pou moun nou ye a, mèsi daske nou pataje istwa nou avèk nou. Ayibobo pou Guenson ak Manouchka!❤️

Pwojè sa a reyalize pa @theaugustprjct an kolaborasyon ak @studio_baboun, sipòte pa @haiticulturalx atravè rezidans Lakou Nou. The August Project konsantre sou rakonte istwa nou ak patenarya estratejik pou konstwi kominote ak konbat povrete. Yo travay sou komemorasyon istwa ak eksperyans Ayisyen. N ap travay ansanm pou asire ke istwa nou yo rakonte ak diyite.

Our stories are valuable, our life is valuable, and our path in life is valuable. This is Guenson and Manouchka with their little girl Nohemie. They journeyed from Chile to arrive in Texas. They crossed 11 countries in inexplicable conditions. They saw death, they saw horror. But despite all of this, our ancestors guided them to safety. Today they live in New York. Despite being in the US, they have dreams for Haiti. A dream that all of us Haitians share: to return home and live in peace, love, equality, and acceptance. Thank you for the people you are Guenson and Manouchka and thank you for sharing your story. Ayibobo and love to our siblings!❤️

This project is spearheaded by @theaugustprjct, in collaboration with @studio_baboun and supported by @haiticulturalx as part of their Lakou Nou residency program. The August Project focuses on storytelling and strategic partnerships to build community and alleviate poverty. They work on memorializing Haitian stories and underscoring dignity. We’re working together to ensure that our stories are told with dignity | Photo: @stevenbaboun / Retouching: @moorephotography___
