Happy Valley Bookfest haul!! 💙🤍📚

Last month was the first @happyvalleybookfest in State College! I left the game at halftime and headed downtown to check it out and my bookish heart was so full at seeing lots of people stopping by to check out what everyone had to offer 🩷

Finally got to meet fellow Penn State alum @morallygraycafe in person! 🩵 She is so talented and creates the most beautiful SPARKLY sprayed edges! Keep scrolling to see what I picked up from her this time.

Thank you @happyvalleybookfest for bringing this event to State College! Can’t wait for the next one!

You know I had to support my fave @blythebooks_pgh who traveled from the Burgh to State College for the event! I was desperate for one of these sweatshirts and Lizzie was kind enough to make sure she brought them along so I could grab one 💜

You can’t tell but these colorful edges by @morallygraycafe are sparkly!! I still haven’t unwrapped my blind date yet so stay tuned for a video to see what book I got!

Picked up some amazing sounding books from indie authors @ellebackenstoewrites and @meaumanauthor!

Dark Book Con is bringing more than just authors, and we’re excited to introduce one of the bookish vendors joining us!

Morally Gray Cafe, also known as Megan McManus, is a Pittsburgh-based artist specializing in custom airbrushed book edges, hand-bound book safes, and specialty rebound books (say hello to naked hardcovers!), plus plenty of other small bookish goodies including totes, keychains, and magnets.

And we absolutely love her philosophy:

No Book Left Behind.

Alongside popular favorites, you’ll find plenty of titles that don’t usually get the sprayed-edge treatment, plus a special indie-author Blind Date with a Book section where you can take a chance on discovering your next favorite author.

Who’s already planning their shopping list?

Some love stories are about being saved. This one’s about breaking free.

Okay, let’s see who’s still here after this one. 😂👀

A few things you should probably know about me as an author: I love pretty books, I’m always on some classroom-library side quest, I’m very pro-choice-reading, and yes—I’ll happily give you a little romance subplot…as long as the mystery stays the main event. 👀

I write YA because I believe teens deserve stories that take them seriously. And I’m writing the books I wish I had growing up. 💚📚

So…which one are you agreeing with? And which one might have you hitting unfollow? 😂

Fable Bookcon Wrap-up, in which I did not take enough pictures and despite trying really hard to behave ended up with a massive haul of new books! (And even more recommendations from so many fantastic authors.)

Also, favorite of the weekend I got to meet @sellswordarts and see 2 of their panels and get 2 photos with them! They are super nice and the panels were fabulous!

#Bookstagram #BooksOfInstagram #FableBookCon #SellswordArts

The books I bought. And my autograph book where we had almost, if not every author sign to create an ebook TBR for later. (I was trying so hard to be good! Look at my restraint!)

Allison and I glowing for the fairytale rave!

Hector wanted to glow too.

Fairytale raves have surprisingly good music.

I don't drink, but I love the creativity.

How best to carry a helpless female into battle.

It definitely looks cool.

We had very good seats for the second panel! There is no zoom at all on this shot!

Me looking awkward and babble fangirling at Megan about Mercedes Lackey.

Why yes, that is a tiny battle duck!

My fantasy ball gown. I forgot the gold sparkles for my hair. Next time!

So, ummm, I won the book horde from the Con side quest for the weekend...it is...a lot...of books and merch...My superpower strikes again. Thank you authors and vendors! (And convention organizers.)

The Pittsburgh Book Crawl may be over (🥲) but we are still stocked on all these gorgeous editions painted JUST FOR US by @morallygraycafe. You won’t find them anywhere else!

Pricing is super reasonable: they are all being sold at MSRP plus our cost to have the edges sprayed. No other markup is applied! Art is for everyone!

Quantities are getting low on some of the books so if you’ve been eyeing these up, I wouldn’t wait. 🏃💨
