Really excited to share “This Fear", the third and final single from “Phantasmagoria” on the LowSwing Records label.
There's something about recording live to tape, vocals and all, with such good musicians, that instead of making you cautious about not fucking up, it brings out your primal instincts as an artist.
I completed writing this song right before the session and Earl, Daniel, and I started jamming, and before we knew it, we had the take on tape.
The Berlin Session Strings tagged along with another one of Guy's mad scientist quirky arrangements.
Again, no editing, no computers. Recorded and mixed by Guy Sternberg in his analogue kingdom.

"This fear is here to stay
I feel we're better off this way
Again and again i see the game
It's here till judgment day
I feel
We're better off this way
Again and again i feel the pain

Please don't turn it all
Into shame
So please don't wear your heart out in the rain
Please don't burn it all
With a ricochet

My dear we've gone estray
I fear we might have been betrayed
Again and again i feel the pain
And it's here to stay
I feel we're better off this way
Again and again i hear the plains"

Today, we are releasing another song from my analog album on Lowswing Records to digital streaming platforms.
And I want to dedicate this song to Raz Israeli.
I wrote it in the very first moments after hearing of his passing.
I didn’t know Raz very well, but there was a moment a long time ago, when I released my first album, where Raz—who was an up-and-coming culture journalist at the time—went out of his way with genuine kindness to let me know I had a direct line to him, without any PR mediation. And so, every now and then, we would keep in touch.
There are those people who, in a brief conversation or text message, leave you with a sense of connection and the thought that someday, under the right circumstances, you'd surely become friends; people who intuitively understand something about you, and maybe you about them.
So when I heard he had taken his own life, With sadness and shock, I went straight to the piano and wrote.

"Phantasmagoria" is out today on LowSwing Records exclusively on vinyl in a limited edition.

I have a lot to tell about the exciting pure analogue process and the philosophy behind this kind of release, and I will soon.
We released "So True", just one song for the streamers out there to get a taste of the album (and to get a turntable to hear it all)
So today I want to dedicate it to my beloved dog Ella, my best friend, who's having a rough time. I hope this melody will resonate as a prayer for her health and well-being because I love her so. "The sparkle in your eyes can guide you through"—that's for you, Ella.

This is a little video shot mostly on my phone from the recording during the blizzard in Berlin.
Thank you to all the wonderful people involved, first and foremost my longtime friend Guy Sternberg, the producer of this album, and Matthias Luck, his label partner and exec producer of the project.
Love to all,
Alon

The contras rehearsing @jerusalemusicentre. Fun fact: playing a quick ascending minor third on the beat will make my son shout “what??” Even if you’re in the other room.
