Once you told me that when you were living in Croatia, you practiced this beautiful birthday tradition.

When someone is truly close to you, they don’t always wait until the middle of the day to wish you a happy birthday. They wait for the end of one day and the beginning of another — for those very first seconds of the day you were born. And then they post your pictures together, write something beautiful, and tell a little too long story. Not just a simple “Happy Birthday,” but everything.

So I wanted to make something similar for you.

Even though I’m not sure I’ll ever find the perfect words for everything you’ve become to me. We met randomly, by the sea. And when I look back now, I wonder how something that started so randomly could become something that means so much.

But somehow, we didn’t let the distance decide our story. So today, at the very beginning of your birthday, I want to wish you more than just a happy birthday. I wish you people who will love you honestly, who will stay beside you when life gets difficult, and who will celebrate every beautiful moment with you. I wish you courage for the things that scare you, strength for the things that challenge you, and enough happiness to make all the difficult days worth it. I wish you places you’ve never seen, memories you’ve never made, and experiences you don’t even know you’re waiting for yet. And I hope that when you look back at this chapter of your life one day, you’ll remember it with a smile. Because if life taught me anything, it’s that the most important people don’t always arrive in the way you expect. I was there again very same moment- through every problem, every storm, every scar. Push me away again because you’re hurting, because you’re scared, because you need time… and I’ll still care. I won’t stop believing in what we could be. But if one day you truly decide you don’t want me in your life, I’ll respect your choice, even if it breaks my heart. Some connections don’t disappear; they just become quieter. Some people stop loving. I just learn to love in silence. Whether I’m standing beside you or watching from the shadows, all I’ll ever want is for you to be safe, happy, and at peace. Because to me, love was never about possession (tho I’m possessive as f*ck) —it was always about choosing someone, even when life makes that choice difficult. And i know my choice and it will never change.
