In honour of Diabetes Awareness Month, here’s my type 1 diabetes story summed up! At 25, my life changed overnight. After experiencing symptoms of constant thirst, hot and angry outburst after eating, dizzy spells which I all chalked down to being in early pregnancy, one day I sadly had the news from the doctors that I had a missed miscarriage at 11weeks pregnant. Within minutes I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes — a challenge I never thought I’d have to prepare myself for.

Now, those little things surrounding me are my daily life - filled with insulin pens, glucose shots, CGMs, and constant finger pricks. Managing T1D is a full-time job, with no breaks or days off, but it’s a part of me now. I’m sharing this to raise awareness of the unseen struggles many of us face every day.

What’s something about you that people might not know? 🤍🩵

Why I took out life insurance;

I brought my first house with my sister and we took out a mortgage for the purchase. Having life insurance means if something was to happen to me she wouldn’t have to pay the mortgage on her own.
This is why it was important for me to take out life insurance for peace of mind if anything happen, my sister wouldn’t have to struggle with financial losses.

More than diabetes helped me find the right policy and made the whole process simple. If you are thinking about taking out life insurance use the link in my story or bio to complete a enquiry form today. Plus if you use my link and take out a policy More Than Diabetes are offering your first month premium FREE! Note this offer is only if you use my link.

Always time for a jelly baby snack stop 🤣
.
I'm working with @morethandiabetes_mtd to spread the word about life insurance for Diabetics
.
Whenever I've added 'type 1 diabetes' to my insurance whether that's my car or travel etc I always expect to pay more. But the guys at @morethandiabetes_mtd are a family run business and help Diabetics find life insurance that isn't more expensive just because of your diabetes
.
Head to my story - I've put their link in!

I had a nightmare trying to get a life insurance policy, people not getting back to me, monthly premiums I simply couldn’t afford as they were crazy amounts or being told I couldn’t get life insurance. I had given up but then I saw an advert for More Than Diabetes. @morethandiabetes_mtd is a small business that specialises in insurance for diabetics so I thought I’ll give it one last try. I’m so glad I did because they made everything so simple I couldn’t understand why it had been such a struggle before so if you have given up please get in contact with them, they are fantastic I couldn’t recommend them enough!

Use the link in my bio, on my highlights or visit their instagram page, website or give them a call on 01233 555454 and reference my name T1nicola 😊

Your A1C number isn’t everything. It’s not what actually tells us if your healthy or not. But to get insurance it does mean a lot. It’s a tool for us to determine our overall health. What else are insurance companies going to look at when you apply for health insurance or life insurance. Find out in this weeks episode. Was such a pleasure to sit down with these two guys. @diabetes_mtm

This week on the show I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two amazing young men who were fed up with how the insurance industry handled people with chronic illnesses and decide to start their own company! @diabetes_mtm (More Than Diabetes) is a life insurance company that specialize in diabetes. They ask you questions about your diabetes and overall health and then find the right company for you to do business with! What a great conversation with these two brothers!
