Stillwater stays in the win column. 🤠
No. 18 Oklahoma State pulled away from UCF for a 42-28 win Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium, earning its fourth straight victory and improving to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 play. But the final score only tells part of the story.
The Knights kept the Cowboys working through the first half, matching them at 21-21 heading into the break. UCF quarterback Keyone Jenkins threw three first-half touchdowns, while OSU leaned on Drew Mestemaker to keep pace. Mestemaker finished with 304 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing score.
The difference came after halftime — and the biggest swing came from the defense. With OSU leading 27-21 early in the fourth quarter and UCF threatening to take the lead, Christian Bodnar knocked down a backward pass. Evan Jackson scooped it up, cleared a fallen Knight and raced 28 yards to the end zone. Mestemaker added the two-point conversion, giving the Cowboys a 35-21 cushion with 10:32 remaining.
From there, Oklahoma State took control. The Cowboys outscored UCF 21-7 in the second half, turning a back-and-forth afternoon into another conference win. UCF held the ball longer and ran more plays, but OSU delivered the game’s defining moment when it mattered most.
Next stop: Houston, where the Cowboys will look to keep the streak going Oct. 17
