Moving Art Two: Elevation welcomes audiences into a world of contemporary ballet designed to stir the senses and elevate the unexpected.

'Ode' is a breathtaking exploration of kinetic energy, space, and human connection by Katarzyna Kozielska. A prominent voice in contemporary European ballet, Kozielska has created works for leading companies including Tulsa Ballet, Czech National Ballet, and Chemnitz Ballet. Shaped by her long career with Stuttgart Ballet both on and off the stage, Kozielska’s distinctive choreography unfolds through expansive movement and expressive lyricism.

Artistic Director Ma Cong brings 'Melodia,' an evocative work inspired by the music of acclaimed singer Lhasa de Sela, to Richmond Ballet. This 2007 creation harnesses the passion of the human voice to capture the profound beauty of shared experiences.

Classical technique meets a vibrant, modern landscape of shifting geometry in 'COLORFORMS' by celebrated San Francisco Ballet soloist Myles Thatcher. This sought-after creator, whose work has been commissioned by renowned companies including New York City Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and Scottish Ballet, transforms movement into a living work of art in this visually striking ballet.

We started of this season with an unforgettable program❤️ It was a true honor to perform the solo role of “I Can Dream, Can’t I?” in Paul Taylor’s “Comapny B”. Thank you to @rchensee for all your guidance and for passing on the legacy of this ballet and Paul Taylor’s work.
It was equally exciting to perform Andy Blankenbuehler‘s “Remember Our Song” staged by the incredible @laurenekias 🙌🏼🩷
Thank you to my partners @colinjacob and @otn._armour , I had a blast lighting up the stage with you both!☺️

What a fabulous way to kick off the season!
