Meet your 2027 Southern Italy Trip Hosts ✨

MORGAN SINCLAIR, MS, RDN, LD
Founder of The Eating Expedition, registered dietitian, and your guide for our trip to Southern Italy!

Her journey with food-focused travel begins in 2014 when she studied nutrition and food science in Northern Italy. Four weeks, fourteen cities, twenty foodies, and copious amounts of wine enjoyed in vineyards and parmesan cheese consumed in the company of ParmaLatte’s red cows.

It clearly didn’t stop there. She wanted to bring those experiences to people who love eating food as much as she does. Now she host trips around the world and off the beaten path, finding all the best food experiences along the way.

EMMA D’ARPINO, PhD, MS-HPEd, RD, LDN
Emma is a dietitian, educator, and photographer based in Massachusetts. Her photography is all about capturing real, honest moments — which means you get to be fully present on this trip while she documents the magic of Italy for you. No posing required.

SUMNER BROOKS, MPH, RDN
Sumner is a registered dietitian, eating disorder advocate, and founder of EDRD Pro — and she’s the reason this trip comes with CEs. She’s passionate about compassionate, evidence-based eating disorder care and equally passionate about the joy and connection that food can bring. Also, bread and pasta are two staples of her diet, so Italy was kind of a no-brainer for her.

ANGELA GOENS, MS, RDN, LD
Angela is a registered dietitian based in Minneapolis whose private practice is dedicated to removing barriers for marginalized communities in eating disorder care. She’s the Director of Education at EDRD Pro and co-founder of the BIPOC Eating Disorders Conference. She also loves travel that incorporates local culture and food — which makes her an incredible person to eat your way through Puglia with.

Our Italian trip hosts! Doug and Erica have been part of every Italy trip The Eating Expedition has done — and it started back in 2014 when they led Morgan’s nutrition-focused study abroad that sparked this whole thing. Since then they’ve helped plan, host, and translate every Italy trip, and they know this country like the back of their hand. They’re based in Levant

Lesson of the day - it’s okay if your pace is slower today than it was yesterday ❤️‍🔥

Somewhere in my growing up, I learned that productive = busy. Today felt productive and slow. I needed that real bad.

Giving myself the permission to walk through Wednesday with ease was exactly the kind of leader and coach I want to be. My slowed pace does not mean I’m not working, it means I am working with what I have to give today ☕️💌❤️‍🔥

We’re going to Southern Italy 🇮🇹

September 17–27, 2027 to Puglia (Bari, Lecce, and Matera), in collaboration with @edrdpro.

This trip is for registered dietitians who want to eat their way through one of Italy’s most food-rich regions while earning CEs (keeping our fingers crossed for 15).

Think: pasta making in Bari’s old city, olive oil tastings at a family farm, wine at a 13th-century fortress, a fish market in Gallipoli, and artisan breadmaking in Altamura.

Officially a @showit Design Partner 🎉

Back in 2018, I niched wayyyyy down. Private practice owners and weight inclusive clinicians only… and I decided to only design websites on Showit.

Last year, I submitted my application to be a Showit Design Partner.

They reviewed my work. They checked my sites met design standards. They even reached out to past clients to confirm they loved working with me (THANK YOU to everyone who vouched for me. ILYSM 🥹).

And in May… I got approved!

The timing couldn’t be more perfect because this summer, I’m taking a six-week semi-sabbatical to completely revamp my template shop. Better templates. More semi-custom options. And a whole lot of ways to make weight inclusive care easier to find through easy-to-navigate websites.

You can call me El PRESIDENTE! 🎉

No but really…It is such an honor and privilege to serve as our next @houston_eds president.

This organization has meant so much to me over the years, and I can’t believe I’m now leading it alongside our amazing board members.

It was through HEDS that I…
✔️got to know other professionals in our field that I may not have otherwise
✔️learned from some of the top clinicians across the nation
✔️got to try out lots of cool restaurants across Houston (where we typically hold events!)
✔️and met some of my closest colleagues, now friends for life

HEDS is so much more than a nonprofit, it’s a true community with a unified mission to educate others on the treatment of eating disorders.

I am SO excited for the coming term and all the amazing things we have planned. Stay tuned! ✨

This. Is. Not. A. Zoom. Room. 🙌

The first post-2020 IN PERSON @weightinclusivenutrition event happened last weekend, in Denver, with a lot of lovely humans. We also had lovely partners, that helped make this happen: @the.superbill team (pictured here, Hannah & Morgan), @eatmywayapp (Cara!), @gaudianiclinic , and @eatingdisorderfoundation (the BEST event venue in Denver, I’m pretty sure).

I don’t have the brain energy to say much other than this was ~exactly~ what I had hoped it would be…when I had the vision for a little in-person thing back in February, and then again when early-May-Heather actually started putting some planning pieces together. 🙃😬

We saw old friends and met a lot of new ones. We recorded a podcast (s/o @whitneytrotter.rd & @streetsmart.rd ), we ate and drank things, we spent all the time outside, and we added flare to our name tags and tight squeezes to our hugs.

12/10 can’t wait to do this again soon.
