Happy birthday, Jonathan Freilich!

I made this image with Jonathan in 2018 when I did my second Musician Gathering. This time, I brought together over 40 guitar players from the Big Easy scene and called it "Six String Slingers."

As a reminder, all the images from my musician gatherings are available for purchase with 50% of the profits going to The Roots of Music program. So, for all you New Orleans music fans, here's your opportunity to own a piece of history and help out the children of the Big Easy.

So much music. Don’t even know how to list festivals. Thursday is the Rock the Rafters Cajun/Creole celebration at Tip’s. Funk Fest is all weekend with an amazing lineup. Shrimp Fest headlined by @sweetcrudeband.

Two people I love, respect, and admire. Helen Gillet and Jonathan Freilich on Mardi Gras Day in what some of us refer to as "Before Times."

Steven Bernstein & Kirk Joseph's Brass Brothers featuring 10-year old Mavis Aiello from our annual New Orleans Jazzfest party on 4/27/26 at the beautiful Bywater Cottage.

Uncle Steven showed up with the charts and lovingly led Mavy and the band through a few songs, including Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys. She burned the house down!!!

Eternal thanks to Steven, Uncle Kirk on sousaphone, Nikki Glaspie on drums, Jonathan Freilich on guitar, Glenn Hartmann on keys, Matt Booth on bass and Alex Penso on trumpet.

Special thanks to Michael and Ramona of Bywater Cottages for once again providing the most amazing space to party and live for two weeks. Also, a huge thanks to Nate Weidenhaft for dialing-in the sound so nicely.

Video by Carolyn Weiser (the greatest Mavysitter in the world!)

Brass Brothers with Mavis will be back in April...
