Throwback, this recap video was produced approx 16 months back (april 2025) when we joined hands with Yoka zone (now Project zone) community part of the wider Namuwongo slum area. On that day, we held a hiphop, arts, creativity and education based community outreach that featured breakdance, beatboxing, flips & tricks, rap, a mobile library, music.
This was a launch activity for an ongoing creativity development program for young people, starting off with weekly free & open breakdance classes.

Through this program, We aim to engage atleast 300 young people between 5 and 35 years of age by end of year (as of now, we have engaged more than 600 young people). The group we are offering this faces challenges such as addiction to drugs, engaging in robbery, dropping out of school, unemployment, health issues among others. We want to gradually combat those challenges by bringing a creative centred program that will occupy young people with positive activities, teach them skills that can result in earning opportunities, make connections for social transformation, join participants to a wider network of creatives and more.

We thank our collaborators on this program, Yoka zone local authority (through the youth councilor, Anywar Charles Wyclif).

At first, i couldn't tell what these guys were transporting from the lake because it was packed in sacks. My curiosity made me follow them to see where they were taking it and what they were offloading. After asking a few questions, I found out it was black sand.

Sometimes the best stories come from simply being curious.

Inside a 1 day long breaking (breakdance) camp for Some of the semi advanced and advanced breakers (breakdancers) from Mbarara, Wakiso, Jinja, Gulu, Kampala and nearby areas who are active in competing/battling and teaching.
Approx 55 breakers (7 female and 48 male) between 16 & 35 years of age attended a total of 3 workshops which covered workout & warm up, floor-work, combinations, freezes, transitions and general helpful practices in breaking.
Workshops were taught by @dropletsflower @tinytrix and @bboy_lucas_flex
We finished the day with a Q&A session during which our 3 instructors plus all attendees shared thoughts and experiences on how to get better, stay active, sustain themselves and keep building their communities.

This camp is part of a series of trainings, workshops & seminars we programmed to offer with the intention of supporting active & competing breakers (and larger urban dance community) to dance better and with purpose.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are resharing some of the unique engagements we did in the year we have left behind.
In March, we facilitated a breakdance skills development workshop to breakers based in Kitintale and surrounding areas.
This workshop targeted beginners & semi advanced level breakers, taught by @dropletsflower .
He taught - Introduction to semi- pro breaking drills; Share & practice concepts for building strong foundation movements; Teach top rock, footwork and power move transitions, and Cyphering practice.

This engagement is part of our ongoing efforts to grow the quantity and quality of breakdance, hiphop & urban dancers based in Uganda.

Shout to;
Collaborators - @banakibuga_streetminds & @ugandaskateboardunion
Guest attendees - @nambalirwajoanah & @bgirl_mirembe .

Photos from our recent refresher training with instructors, administration and leadership personnel.

Professional growth, continued learning, discovering and sharpening our tools (knowledge, skills, practices and approaches) is very important to who we are at Imagination Circle.

The way we see it is simple - to be able to inspire, conduct transformative experiences and impact those we serve; we should embrace and practice a habit of ongoing learning ourselves.
