Today’s my first day of school.
Let me explain. After many incredible years at the University of Utah, the institution that allowed me to pursue a dream of teaching. I am now headed in a new direction. At the U , I poured my heart into shaping the next generation of physicians. I loved my work there. With a new lab about to open… years in the making, you can imagine my surprise when a quiet sense of calling stirred about my other Alma matter (yes I have degrees from both universities)on my commute home one day…maybe … I could see myself there. When BYU announced their new medical school. I didn’t think much of it at first—just another exciting milestone in the world of medicine. But when doors opened, paths aligned, and puzzle pieces clicked into place in ways only divine timing could orchestrate. It turns out, this is exactly where I’m meant to be right now. Sadly it is bittersweet. I’m grateful, in a sense that it is as hard to leave the Uof U as it is exciting to begin at BYU.
To the amazing team at the U: thank you. You know who you are. The mentors, colleagues, and staff who’ve become family—your wisdom, support, and shared passion made every day a gift. And to the medical students whose curiosity lit up those lecture halls, whose grit inspired me daily: thank you. My family and I are endlessly grateful for opportunities and support the UofU put into our lives. The U will always hold a sacred spot in our hearts.
Now, as I step into this fresh chapter at BYU, the excitement is electric. New things to learn, uncharted possibilities to explore, and the chance to build something truly groundbreaking from the ground up. Here’s to new beginnings, bold dreams, and the beautiful unknown. Thanks be to my ever growing relationship with God who trusts me and in whom I trust. Grateful for it all. ❤️ #FirstDayofschool #BYUMed #UtahProud #universityofutah #brighamyounguniversity #byu

This year has been beyond any of my wildest dreams.

I’m not going to sugar coat it. Life can be so hard and scary, but it can also be full of joy, color, and love.

I’ve shot over 15 weddings in the past year. Been to two of my brother’s weddings, and fallen into real, deep, love. Needless to say, I’m surrounding my life with love, and I am so grateful for it.

Look for beauty, and look for love. Everything else will work itself out.

Thank you for being here. I love you.

To “mom” is to care.

I feel incredibly grateful to have so many positive influences around me.

To my sisters (in-laws included), you are not moms but I love you very much.

To my aunts, thank you for extending care beyond your own children.

To my grandmothers, thank you for passing love from generation to generation. Also canned goods—sorry I slept on those goodies for so long.

To my feminine friends. Thanks for being in my life. I appreciate your influence and strengths. Also, like, you’re just the best to dish tea with.

To my moms from different homes, Jane Rhodes and Alison Frame, I love you so much and I can’t imagine what I’d be without you.

And finally, to my dearest, the one who held me in her belly for 9 months, the one who made me more meals than numbers can count, the one who gave me life—my mother, Caryn. I am beyond words to describe how much you have done, and continue to do, to support me in my life. To the spontaneous lunches, the late night cries, the early morning shakes, all I can say is happy mother’s day, I love you, mom, and thanks.
