“They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭78‬:‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

With great capacity the Lord brought forth a son into our home and carried us through the stretching 🩵

A redeemer. A restorer. The Mighty One.

I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant that I was having a baby girl. There was just a knowing that I couldn’t shake even though I so desperately wanted a boy FIRST. It’s something I’ve always been vocal about. A part of the reason was me selfishly wanting to live through my kids as I myself always wanted an older brother. I was tired of the eldest daughter drama/experience and wanted an escape! I knew that the Lord has given me such a position as this for a purpose, but it still did not erase the exhaustion/trauma that one may experience with the responsibilities of an eldest daughter.

One evening as I was sitting in the living room while pregnant, my mind went into overdrive. So many thoughts from nowhere running through at once. I got up to go use the bathroom and as I sat down I heard the Holy Spirit say clearly “Whatever has happened in the past has ended with you. Have no fear. You have done & are doing the work”, and that was all the word I needed to restore my peace. Having a boy first was not the solution to my fear, walking hand in hand with God and trusting Him for our future was.

12 months later and this beautiful precious gift is growing and exploring the world around her and I have the privilege of stewarding her towards the path God has called her unto. I see so much of myself in this little bundle of joy & I do not take for granted the front row seat I have in her life. It’s a responsibility I’ll gladly sign up for over and over again. God makes no mistakes and whether we think we always know the best next step, He ultimately sees and knows all and calls forth the beginning from the end.

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬-‭1

Journey to One (IV) - Birth Testimony

The morning of July 4th came and still no progress. Still measuring 4/5cm despite the interventions done so far. I was slowly becoming discouraged but praise God for all the people who were encouraging and praying for me. My husband being the most present one!

My preferred doctor was not on call that day, so another doctor came in to speak with me. She was also Nigerian (this is where the dream starts to come into play). She had come in to tell me the interventions that we had left before we had to opt for delivery via C section, which was the very thing I was dreading/scared of. Now let me preface this by saying that I am NOT against having a C section in any way. BIRTH IS BIRTH. And many of the miracle babies in my life have been delivered via c section. HOWEVER, because of what the Lord had shown and told ME over the course of my pregnancy, I KNEW I was NOT supposed to have one.

At one point after she suggested the next the intervention, I sighed heavily and said out loud to my husband, Doula, and sister in law “not another intervention again. I’m so tired” to which the doctor responded by giving me a very nasty attitude and said “you see that’s exactly what we are not going to do!” And proceeded to walk out the room with the nurse. Overtaken by confusion, I looked at everyone and said “umm did I say something wrong lol?” We were all going back and forth and requested for who else was on call because I was not about to be dealing with no attitude during this whole process. The other doctor on call was not someone I was familiar with so I declined and asked that they keep her….

My Zhuri Oreofeoluwa Omoehi Ajibade is ONE 🎀

Today I woke up with eyes full of tears and a heart full of gratitude. Zhuri you are not just a blessing in the literal sense of a blessing but you are the start and the initiation of the “more” that God promised us. Our days have been brighter and brighter because you are in it. You bring joy and so much personality to every room you walk and stomp into. You are not bothered by external influence but you follow the path that you set your mind onto.

Mama and Dada love you so much and it is our greatest prayer that God will continue to equip us to raise you according to His blueprint for you!

Happy Birthday! 🥹🎀💗
