One month today, and it still feels unreal. The pain doesn’t get easier, but neither does the love, the pain is just still as raw and it still feels like a bad dream I can’t wake up from. I’d give anything to see you again, to hear your voice, to get just one more call telling me how proud you are and that we makin it out the hood. But even in this pain, I’ll carry your legacy forever.🕊️💔 I’m broken, angry that they took you from us, angry that I that we couldn’t do anything to keep you here. I’d do anything just to have you here, to hear your voice, to bring you back. I’m angry at the whole world. The emptiness is unbearable, but if nothing else, I’ll make sure you’re proud. I love you forever. We love you forever🕊️💔 We miss you more than words can say Natan. We miss you more every day.

When I think of hope…

I think of hope for a brighter future for blood cancer patients.

Hope for more education and awareness, which will create a larger and more diverse blood stem cell donor pool in Australia.

Hope that at least one more sibling, partner, parent, grandparent, cousin, child… will find their blood stem cell donor match here, in Australia.

This is hope. And this is how I remember Matt.

He wanted others to have a fighting chance at finding their blood stem cell donor match in Australia… unfortunately, Matt had no registered match in the whole country.

What you hoped for other blood cancer patients is going to happen Matt. I promise you, soon, it’s going to happen. So many people are coming together to make your dreams for better outcomes for blood cancer patients a reality. Some people you knew… some you didn’t get the chance to meet… But they are all coming together, and it’s going to happen.

So many more people in Australia are going to have a fighting chance of surviving blood cancer… very soon.

I only wish you could be here to see it…

As my only sibling, it broke my heart when you had to leave us, and so young…

But you left a gift for other blood cancer patients.

You left hope.
