POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Since moving to Coolum and opening SPN, we’ve met some awesome people and had the chance to connect with some of Australia’s best motocross riders! 🏁

A huge highlight has been meeting @charlicannon7, one of the fastest women in the world! An incredible athlete who deserves so much more recognition for what she’s achieved. 🇦🇺

We’ve also loved meeting and supporting legends like @kylewebster96, @mossy102, @nathancrawford199, @lukeclout4 and the funny man @lynchyfilms 😂

A special shoutout to our young guns @nate_grove54 and @kaidetenace, who we’re proud to sponsor. Keep chasing those dreams, boys! 💪

Thanks to everyone who has supported SPN so far. We’re loving being part of the motocross community and can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

Pop into SPN, say g’day and fuel your performance! 🔥

Eight minutes doesn’t sound like much—until it’s eight minutes of @ausxsupercross

A rider is repeatedly accelerating, braking, jumping, landing, absorbing force and changing body position, while still controlling the motorcycle and making split-second decisions at speed.

At Townsville, Matt’s heart rate reached 175 bpm during an eight-minute practice session and peaked at 185 bpm across the round—hitting his age-predicted maximum heart rate.

His blood lactate rose from 0.9 mmol/L before riding to 18.6 mmol/L five minutes after practice. That sits in the same numerical territory reported following all-out 400-metre running and specific 1500-metre speed-skating efforts. They are different sports, but the comparison gives some scale to the intensity involved.

Across the day, Matt’s estimated core temperature reached 38.6°C.

Context matters: Matt is a highly adapted Supercross rider, a nine-time Australian champion and a professional racer of more than two decades.

Yet he reported no arm pump, and his grip strength initially increased after riding—the opposite of what we expected. His hands continued to perform while his cardiovascular, metabolic and thermal responses showed how hard the rest of his body was working.

The challenge isn’t one eight-minute session. Riders must recover and reproduce their performance across practice, qualifying, heats and racing.

We used 1st Phorm's Hydration Sport and Ultra-Formance as part of Matt’s planned hydration and fuelling strategy, alongside small, regular carbohydrate and protein sources between sessions.

The aim was to use sports science to support fluid and electrolyte replacement, maintain energy availability and begin recovery before he became thirsty, hungry or depleted.

Correct fuelling doesn’t make Supercross easier. It gives the rider a better opportunity to maintain concentration, recover and produce the same performance again.

Eight minutes may be what appears on the schedule. The rider’s job starts well before it—and recovery continues long after it ends.

This also means we can replicate it off the bike, allowing for better strength and conditioning and race specific prep - with less risk of injury.

So much went into getting to that start gate, and to come away with the win in Townsville makes it all worth it.

A massive thank you to @adambailey41 @micksinclair and the entire @ausxsupercross team for everything you guys do, huge appreciation to the track builders as well, the track was unreal and made for some awesome racing. 👊

And to every one of my sponsors and supporters who help make this possible, thank you. @mossy102 @dylanwills thanks for chasing me at the practice track. I’m proud to have you all behind me and even prouder to put you on the top step. 🏆

Dad and I had a plan coming into this round. We executed it to a tee.

Round 1 done.

Now we keep working.
