Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India : On the banks of the River Subansiri. The river flows through a mighty gorge through the Upper Himalayas until at last , at places like these, where the valley widens to a U-shape, it assumes a gentler, but still ,impressive appearance.

I CHANCED UPON THIS cat sitting beside Mirik Lake, Darjeeling , looking regally poised as if he really was waiting for someone to come along and do a photo shoot on him. As soon as I finished shooting him, he really did get up and leave the storefront where he was sitting. #darjeeling.

The beauty of the Darjeeling hills in India's Eastern Himalayan ranges has to be seen to be believed . I took this pic from a tourist vehicle running at high speed above the valley you see here, on my way to visit a Highland lake called Mirik, situated 1787 metres above sea level.

Crunchy 'Chicken Reshmi Kebab' done up with plenty of lemon ,with plenty of salad in between , couldn't taste better than at 'The Pavilion' at Dilli More at Darbhanga , Bihar, India. Or so I think. From today's lunch. June 4th, 2019.

I share today this slightly old pic I took (on January 3, 2017) ,while on a train journey, of lily pads floating on a serene river in India's Assam province with the mountains of the Eastern Himalayas looming in the background. When I had first uploaded this pic to Google Photos more than two years back, I had been surprised by the vividness and the beauty in the scene captured here , and the way it portrays beauty ,from the smallest to the biggest, in one of the least known corners of the world, and had all along meant to share it, but had never gotten around to doing so, until tonight, when while perusing my collection, I came across this scene once again after a long time. The pic had been taken with a five megapixel shooter aboard a Micro max Canvas smartphone from a running train not far from Dhemaji district in Assam, India.

Is this Colombo, or IS IT SINGAPORE, OR ARE WE looking at a mansion in ,say, Washington DC? No, this picture is none of these. It is a medium sized commercial complex in Bihar, India, which I was lucky enough to come across on my evening walk across the state's Northern town of Nirmali . Bihar frequently throws up such charming examples of architecture at different relatively unknown towns across its face, buildings which are old but not medieval ,colourful but not garish, and intricate but not vulgarly kitschy. A charming world all its own, where you suddenly find yourself at home despite being an outsider , as I found myself this evening, indeed.
