Have you ever tried this with an MDF moulding? If so, you’ll love working with our poplar Classical Moulding Collection. Pat Farrington, @farrington.building locks in this 1-13/16” x 4-1/2” KB104 casing nice and tight with a few next level techniques for this full gut renovation outside of Boston, MA. This is just 1 of 90 in-stock poplar moulding profiles inspired by designs installed in homes first built in the US over 200 years ago. We used modern technology to create these thick casings meant to look like two, sometimes even three profile build-ups to simplify the installation schedule. A true test of craftsmanship? Making an imperfect house look flawless and how moulding can help. Uneven floors. Out-of-plumb walls. Inconsistent corners. This older home had all the real-world conditions that can make a seemingly simple baseboard installation anything but simple for @farrington.building Watch how Pat, an experienced New England finish carpenter works through them using KB222 poplar base moulding from Kuiken Brothers—carefully scribing to uneven floors, ripping the profile to maintain a consistent base cap line, and fine-tuning every inside and outside corner. The finished result looks straight, level and intentional—even when the house isn’t. This is finish carpentry. Taking imperfect conditions and making them disappear. We condensed the complete installation into this shortened Reel. Want to see every step and hear the carpenter explain the process? Watch the full narrated installation video on our YouTube channel.
