There's something special about being able to put work aside and simply be a fan.

This weekend at Mound Mania, watching the West Indies take on Sri Lanka, I was reminded why I fell in love with cricket in the first place. The energy, the rivalry, the tension, the heartbreak, and ultimately the victory. Every moment felt like a spark reigniting a flame that many of us have been waiting to see burn brightly again.

Having international cricket back in Jamaica felt bigger than just three T20 matches. It felt like a reminder of what sport can do for a country. Families, friends, strangers and generations all gathering around a shared passion. For a few hours, nothing else mattered.

As someone who works in and around sport, I spend a lot of time focused on the business, branding and logistics. This time, I gave myself permission to simply cheer, celebrate and feel every wicket, boundary and turning point. And I loved every minute of it.

The experience has me genuinely excited for what's ahead, especially with the CPL season fast approaching. If this series was any indication, the appetite for cricket in Jamaica is alive and well.

My hope is that the conversations happening around the return of international cricket don't end with this series. I hope @hon.oliviagrange and the leadership of Cricket West Indies are thinking strategically about rebuilding a sustainable sports ecosystem and community around the game. Not just hosting matches, but creating pathways, opportunities, engagement and experiences that reconnect people to cricket year-round.

Because what I saw this weekend wasn't just a crowd.

It was proof that the love for the game is still here.

POV: You came for the cricket but stayed for the vibes. 🏏🍻🎶

My first Mound Mania experience at Sabina Park included live cricket, food, drinks, a DJ keeping the energy high, and a crowd that knew how to have a good time. Safe to say, it was much more than just a match.

The best part? Mound Mania continues this weekend, so you still have a chance to experience the food, drinks, music, and cricket for yourself.

Who’s pulling up? 🇯🇲✨
